Andrei,

We were able to claim both $77m+ in P3 R&D Grants and the R&D Tax Concession.
I was in charge of the accounting submission and working with the tax team to do it.

Andre,
Is that the same company where you are the vice president?  Grin

No Bobby.

And if you understood how multi-nationals work you would understand VP is a title and there are about 250 of them in the company.

It's the next one up from Director and lower than Exec VP.

It's a layer in the corporate structure.

You don't have one Vice President.

You can get a stingy 125% R&D tax concession but then you have to employ an accountant to work it all out for you and so you end up losing money on the accountants fees. My accountant said it wasn't really worth it and was a gimmick Sad

We had 3 from the APAC Tax Team working on ours and we got everything back.
It was worth it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_Mitty

Quote:
Mitty is a meek, mild man with a vivid fantasy life: in a few dozen paragraphs he imagines himself a wartime pilot, an emergency-room surgeon, and a devil-may-care killer. The character's name has come into more general use to refer to an ineffectual dreamer, appearing in several dictionaries.[2] The American Heritage Dictionary defines a Walter Mitty as "an ordinary, often ineffectual person who indulges in fantastic daydreams of personal triumphs".[3] The most famous of Thurber's inept male protagonists, the character is considered "the archetype for dreamy, hapless, Thurber Man".[4]

Although the story has humorous elements, there is a darker and more significant message underlying the text, leading to a more tragic interpretation of the Mitty character. Even in his heroic daydreams, Mitty does not triumph, several fantasies being interrupted before the final one sees Mitty dying bravely in front of a firing squad. In the brief snatches of reality that punctuate Mitty's fantasies the audience meets well-meaning but insensitive strangers who inadvertently rob Mitty of some of his remaining dignity.

Hi Nail,
Does this remind you of anyone?

You don't think you can have Vice Presidents of each department?
Have you ever worked in a multi-national and looked at the structure?

Deutsche Bank for example has close to 300 Vice Presidents.

I think you are confusing a political VP and a structure of a Corporation.

Finance & Accounting alone has 12 VP's in my company.

You really need to read a little bit more about how a multi-national is structure Bobby before you make a greater fool of yourself.

How many Vice Presidents do you think a company has?

I'll pick a random US Listed multi-national.

Medtronic Inc (NYSE: MDT) - how many VP's do you think it has?
One?

Oz seems to treat their terms and rankings much differently.

In there seems to be plenty of "Directors" eg Director of Finance, which I find amusing considering none of them are elected to the Board of Directors as such.

Technically a Director should be entitled to a Director fee - which I would bet a pound to a dollar none of them get.

VP is merely a title in US Listed organizations - mine is Assoc VP. There are three VP titles -

Assoc VP
VP
Exec VP

The Exec VPs are the real honchos - they are the $800k per annum guys who sit on the Excomm.
