The worst opportunism I have seen this parliament has been by Gillard - a leader rejected by the people after a solitary term of office.

She's been kept in power by a bunch of renegade hypocrites and a party with one MP run by a queer.

What a motley crew.

The "motley crew" were given a choice, Gillard, or Abbott, but after meeting with Abbott, they had to refuse to support him, because they considered him too false and untrustworthy, which I guess is understandable, he did tell everyone that he could not be relied on to be honest, unless his comments were "scripted".
I guess that means he is so unfamiliar with the truth, he has to get others to help him with it.

...............
If Abbott is "unfamiliar" with the truth, then Gillard is totally unaware of it. Which is why there is such a groundswell of indignation at her bringing in a Carbon Tax. To keep harping about Tony Abbott just shows how insecure the left is.

Gillard wouldn't know what the truth was if it walked up to her and smacked her in the head with her own handbag.

....

I agree with you.....she lacks honesty. It will be interesting to see how she fares in the next six months. Even many in
her own party find her hard to stomach.

Julia blatantly lied to get elected and will have her political career ended at the next election as punishment. The method of political death will be a sharp drop in votes for both her and the ALP. By sharp drop, I mean subterranean.

So right, AP. Although some people seem to have short memories and would probably vote for him again....WHY????....Bill Short-Horn may get the tick before Rudd...lol. Interesting times.

Highway upgrades before NBN, says Opposition leader
JOSHUA DOWLING
09 Jan, 2012 12:18 PM
Federal opposition leader Tony Abbott says completing upgrades to the Pacific Highway between Brisbane and Sydney is a bigger priority than the $50 billion National Broadband Network.

The comments come after a fatal crash claimed two more lives yesterday, including that of an 11-year-old boy, on a single-lane section of the notorious highway near Urunga, about 27km south of Coffs Harbour on the NSW mid-north coast.

A truck collided head-on with a ute, killing the 38-year-old driver, before veering off the road and into the holiday house where the boy was sleeping

Not to put to fine a point on it...but my father was born in 1915....and he told me that the road between Sydney and Canberra used to be called the Politicians's Highway....because it was the BEST road in the country..The roads between Sydney and the QLD border were crap.....But the drive from Sydney to Canberra was great...

Minister under pressure over requests to reinstate speed camera at crash site - THE speed camera near the scene of a road tragedy on Sunday will be reinstated on advice given to the Roads Minister before the accident occurred.

Duncan Gay was urged by Roads and Maritime Services within the past month to reinstate the camera on a notorious stretch of the Pacific Highway near where a truck crashed into a house killing an 11-year-old boy.

The mayor of Bellingen said he also had lobbied to have the camera at Urunga switched back on but residents near the crash site say they will feel safe only once a by-pass is finally built around their mid-north coast town.

Hey dopey, 99.99% of drivers wouldn't know it was turned of.

I regularly drive past three cameras that are switched off and 99.99% of dopey drivers slow down to below the posted speed limit.

Why do people slow to 55KPH in a 70KPH zone because there is a speed camera?

A guy I know was recently fined by a camera which had supposidly been turned off?

This accident was a head on by a truck - It possibly was not speed related more likely at 5am one of the drivers went to sleep.

Anyone who consistently does this should never be PM of Australia.

Not even John Howard would have ever made this type of mistake.

A suitable potential leader should never use a tragedy for political gain let alone be a serial offender.

I've done the Sydney/Brisbane trip a few times over the past 10/11 years and have seen some improvements in that period.

I've also seen patchwork carried out on the same stretches of highway trip after trip.

The most annoying thing, though, was the bits (anywhere between 5 and 10Km) where speed was limited to 40kph and there was not a worker in sight for the whole strip.

No workers, no machinery, just 40kph signs.

I  knew, & agree.

It Seems to me the 4WD was on the wrong side of the road. A personal issue- and a Accident.

Nevertheless, Abbott turned it into a Government issue. Then the blame  game started.
