http://www.crikey.com.au/2012/01/16/poll-bludger-double-whammy-for-major-parties...As a Queenslander, there is not many other people on this forum more qualified to talk about this coming election, so here is my assessment:
If Labor loses, Anna Bligh will have been roundly condemned for a series of blunders and frauds that were not of her own making. The party she leads are a group of complete imbeciles, who have not the means to prop her up to the level she deserves to be at.
Her performance and leadership during the Floods and Cyclone Yasi was unparalelled and simply fantastic. She put John Brumbys handling of the Black Saturday Bushfires in the shade. By this measure, SHE deserves to be re-elected. Not necessarily the party she leads, but herself as Premier.
Now, the LNP; despite the fact their leader in Can-Do Campbell Newman slithered into that role less then a year out from an election like a grass snake pretty much tells the entire story about how desperate that party is to win power.
What I don't understand is how Anna Bligh can be shafted in the media for the blunders of those under her, when the LNPs leader himself is responsible for two huge blunders as Brisbane Mayor, them being the Clem7 Tunnel which nobody uses and the inner city bike rental system which nobody uses.
Two policies which cost way more money then they were supposed to in the first place, and neither have come close to making any of it back. Please explain to me why this man is a better option then what we have now.
Bob Katters Australian party seems to be either extremely lucky or extremely opportunistic, as I cannot think of a better political atmosphere for a new party to enter into. They will no doubt win a considerable number of seats, possibly the most of any new party in Australia's history.
Personally, I am voting for Anna Bligh. Not the party she leads, but for her as a leader, because she herself deserves all the praise she can get for leading Queensland out of the nightmare of this time last year.
