(In South Australia independent candidates are permitted to have other words follow 'Independent' on the ballot paper. South Australia also puts sample how-to-votes on the voting partition, so all voters will see the above how-to-vote while filling in their ballot paper.)

You are right but it was not long ago that the conservatives were claiming that Oakeshott and Windsor were meant to be National party independants?

Sounds a bit odd doesn't it....

My guess is that it someone who is a committed Communist but is standing in their own right rather than as a member of the Communist Party. Which would make sense, as the Communist Party is not registered as a political party in South Australia. So, in the unlikely event that they are elected, their position on issues would be consistent with Communist ideology but would not be tied to a party line.
