No it is not.

I assume that Jalane was attempting to paraphrase an old putdown, commonly used against people who were obviously nutty, which was, "he is obviously unbalanced, perhaps a quarter ounce of lead behind the left ear may fix him?"

The lack of subtlety in Jalane's reply to you is her failing to inject any humour into her reply, which then makes people consider the response as vitriolic, or nasty, where humorous replies are seen as banter, without malice.
This is a subtle, but important distinction which far too many posters fail to understand, and then get upset when they see hateful responses, sanctioned, while more innocuous putdowns go un-rebuked.

Jalane will be made aware of the distinction.
