Seriously?

Just cos the Karzai government is worse, doesn't make the Taliban good. It's like a choice between cancer and AIDS.

Are revolutions bad? The Arab Spring must have been a nightmare for you.

falah - The people of Afghanistan prefer the Taliban the same as selected Jews were kept from  the gas chamber because the Nazis needed someone to clean up and dispose of the bodies.

Some choice...some choice for the people of Afghanistan.

I don't know what weed you are smoking falah but you seriously need to change brands.

The Taliban were not perfect, but they brought security and and stability to areas under their control. They eliminated corruption too. Importantly, they ruled by the laws of God Almighty.

The burka rule, as well as limiting women's travel, and the education of girls were temporary solutions to big problems that Afghanistan, and the Taliban planned to ease these restrictions once they had established security across the country. For example, By 1999, the Taliban had relaxed the dress code for women as security had increased.

The solutions that the Taliban came up with may or may not be oppressive, but should be viewed in the context of political instability, civil war, and huge problem with women and children being abducted and raped by warlords.

Also, issues are not a simple as propagandists would like us to believe.

The propgandists say that women were not allowed to work in Afghanistan, whereas the Taliban say that they could not afford to employ women in the public sector, and therefore limited female workers to the most essential sectors.

Women were employed by the Taliban in the private and public health sector,as well as to guard female prisoners and to search female passengers at airports. They also had plans to employ female teachers to work at girls schools.

In the year prior to the US invasion, there were some high-ranking Taliban who indicated that they were in favor of allowing women to work for NGOs as well. However, the US invaded before any relaxation on the ban on working for NGOs could take place.

The West has conspired to prevent an Arab Spring.

The CIA has been funneling money into pro-US political groups, and the media in Arab countries remains in the hands of pro-US businessman.

The real revolution has not yet begun.

The R does not stand for "revolution" it stands for "revolutionary". In communist/socialist propaganda "revolutionary" has a special meaning. Google Mao's Cultural Revolution for some understanding.

Of course. It's much easier to beat a woman with a cane because she showed a bit of ankle than provide security.  Roll Eyes

And please don't tell me they didn't have the manpower - they had enough to terrorise an entire country of women into domestic imprisonment and men into compliance.

As a Muslim man, it should be your duty to help protect those women from abuse. You can't possibly believe that the brutalisation of Afghani women is not as bad as it's made out to be? It's worse.

falah - Annie has gone to great trouble to precisely outline the disgraceful way the Taliban treat Muslim women.

I don;t know if you can;t read but after all that has been printed on this post; for you to say that the Taliban uphold GOD'S LAWS is an aberration and an insult to the whole female race.

The Koran has nothing to do with the way the Taliban treat women and men.

You have corrupted the whole meaning of the Koran and your point of view is totally without value.

No.....it wasn't anti Muslim propaganda falah, it was upholding the right of Muslim women to be treated with dignity and respect as should every woman be treated thus on this planet.
