There is no way the rich should get subsidized Ambulance care - it should be free for all, not just the Government & Big Business... Cool Cool

Watch out for the Hard Righters and their Socialism fear mongering any minute now. Ripper has already kicked it off.

Socialism,, wtf, you can blame hard lefties for socialism, cant have communism without socialism. Paying ones own way with no hand out is hardly socialism.....

Tsk, tsk. that is not what was said read the reply again. Besides I agree if one can afford to pay his own way then he should. But for someone who can't, and is living on the edge, then it is right that they should get susidised by the richer community.

Socialism is far better than the "fascist" American government which we are aiming to emulate.

Never trust the Government - any ideology they put out - right wing or left is designed to create class inequality and transfer wealth from the workers and low incomes to the political & corporate class - period. Tongue Tongue

Yes - election day is the only day we get to push the big reforms through, make the tough decisions and the big cuts to useless Parliamentary members.  Trouble is there seems to be a conger line of sociopaths and megalomaniacs lining up to replace them.  They are locked in to corrupt economic micro management of the economy and nothing short of a revolution will alter their course. Cool

When the economy begins to improve we should fully integrate dental into medicare and raise the levy while lowering the threshold. We all need to pay for our health cover and the cover should be for everything. If you were to pay two percent more on the levy it would be cheaper than private healthcover.

If you have health insurance I have always found it picks up 90% of the cost of dental visit.

Aside from the time I got my teeth whitened with lasers before my wedding which set me back almost $2,000 but that's not ever going to be picked up by the insurer haha.

Back to my point though, why are there so many people who want something for nothing?
If I have to pay for dental care, why shouldn't anyone else?

How is it fair for you to have it free when everyone else has to pay?

If you want something, pay for it.

But they are paying for both, why shouldn't there be a discount?

It doesn't even start until people earn $83,000.  The people that are well off, don't need a discount.  What about the people, that cant even afford private health insurance?, and there are many that cant.   Sad

The bit i love in your logic is that you think that anyone who works is paid way over what they are worth like you are, when the reality is that their are a majority of people who work much harder than you will ever know with skills you will never have and with much less opportunity than you have had. These people who are the backbone of this society unlike the middle management leeches, earn under $55000 a year and simply medicare, social safety nets like FTB are the things that keep their heads above water. It is about a community that cares and has values based in the best interests of all that share in community and the equitable manner with which we all contribute.
Amazingly since the late 80's the rich seem to think that they are poor and that to contribute to the health of their communities is a crime and injustice. After all they have the cash for private hospitals, houses in secure communities, private schools eta, so the rest can get stuffed. AH the "ME" generation and the selfish little bastards they bred.

Ok -

1) I work well over 60 hours per week.

2) At key times (year ends, full year budgets, project roll outs) I have been known to 70 hours +.

3) I get no additional salary for the extra hours.

4) Less opportunity? I took the same exams everyone else had to take - its hard work not opportunity or anything of the sort. I had no more opportunity than anyone else on here.

5) Let's stop stereotyping. I just think if you want something, pay for it. Why should someone get free healthcare or dental and I don't.

Do the well off need a health rebate?.  Should someone that is in the top 10 percent, of income earners have a rebate?.  There are a lot of low income workers, that work 60, or 70 hours a week.  They are still not well off people.   Sad

Thanks for the reminder, I had forgotten this little bit of her intent.

That's our problem today too many of us either don't read ALL the stories or we forget what we do.

It's like our knowledge of history: "The old die and the young forget" ... and that's history down the gurgler.
