Once more, what the bugger has in the weather in 2012 in Sydney got to do with the accuracy of IPCC predictions? The last time I checked, none of the Working Groups "do local Weather Forecasts".
I don't follow Flannery, but if he predicted hot dry weather for Sydney in February 2012 (which I very much doubt) then he doesn't deserve any defence. I'm pretty sure that Garnaud is an accountant who was given the job of outlining an economical plan for the future based on the input of climate science. I'm equally sure that he didn't make any predictions for February 2012 in Sydney, and again if he did, then he stands alone because I'm pretty sure that any such predictions were not based on the science that I know.
I've also had it up to here with people talking about my profession as if it was some kind of theoretical Earth Science version of phrenology. Well, I'm sorry but it's hard physical science.
They come around here talking about global hoaxes, parroting the words of imbeciles like Monckton, and they don't have the slightest clue about the science. Even if I even mention concepts that are taught in Year 9, they run away with their tail between their legs complaining that I'm trying to baffle them with technical jargon and ridiculing their standpoint.
Well I make no apologies for it. A position of proudly arrogant ignorance deserves to be ridiculed, or exposed for what it is. So be prepared to defend your position.
If I offend your sensibilities because you present ridiculous ideas here, especially ideas that you don't understand and can't defend in your own words, then expect those ideas to be ridiculed. (I'm not advocating personal attacks). I don't care if you're 96 years old and some Mother Theresa clone, if you are arguing on a subject that you don't understand, then you deserve everything that you get.
I sometimes wish that a real denialist (as opposed to a parrot-style "cut and paste" denialist) would post on here. I would love to be able to expose their hypocrisy for all to see. This is not political. If anything I lean to the Right in the political sphere. Unfortunately some elements of the Right in Australia have been hijacked by those who spread disinformation.
On this subject I stand for truth and justice, and I stand for the sanctity of knowledge, and I believe that those are worthy ideals to defend.
If I take a few days to respond this week, it's because of work commitments. I'll do my best.
