Just as a young female experiences her first menstruation and physcially develops into a woman - a very life changing experience.

Young boys experience a 'mental' change in their development towards manhood (Circumcision at the age of 12 for Aboriginal boys is not really the right way to go about it. Hence why a 40,000 year old 'stagnated' culture) - also a very life changing experience.

Karnal, obviously failed to recognise this development in himself and lacks the ability to see the error of his ways.
