Yes, my frien, may our dear sister Soren explain what experience her husband has facilititing her clitoral hood removal.

Did he comfort you, dear? Does he give you much pleasure? You must be grateful for increased beauty and hygeine benefits of the proceedure.

Please tell us all your experience, sister.

Maybe female circumcision is not so bad either?

It can be argued that there are some health benfits to be gained from male circumcision.  Please note, however, in saying that I am not saying that I agree with the practice.  I personally consider it to be a barbaric leftover from previous centuries when standards of cleanliness were nowhere near what they are today.

There is no possible benefit from female "circumcision" or, as it is more correctly termed, genital mutilation.

I will just play devil's advocate.
Asuming the male circumcision/mutilation "benefits" have been the subject of clinical studies. These have resulted in claims as to causation of health problems including urinary tract infections and even cancer.
I am unaware of any scientific clinical studies that look into the health benefits comparing circumcised/mutilated females with those who have not had the proceedure in regard to the incidence of thrush, yeast infection, urinary tract infection and cancer experience.
So is it that there is just an agenda here?

The argument over STDs seems to miss the point. You could eradicated STDs completely by removing all of the genitalia. That doesn't make it a good idea.

I'm circumcised, when I asked my parents why, they said because it was the done thing....When my son was born my wife and I agreed not to circumcise. I've read nothing here to indicate that that was a mistake...

My grandad, on his 15th birthday went into the city to have all his teeth removed and get fitted for dentures. Why? because teeth are dirty bacteria hosting food traps that can cause severe gum disease and oral cysts, that, could lead to blood poisoning and death...Back then, it made sense, today? I don't think so.

P.S If my son at 18 decides he'd rather be circumcised, well, he's free to go get it done...

There are arguments both ways. There can be severe complications due to a botched circumcision operation (see picture below)  Grin , and without circumcision there is a greater chance of infection for those who neglect their personal hygiene for one reaon or another.

There may be cases where circumcision is more warranted, such as a tight prepuce which in itself can lead to a greater risk of infection and less sensitivity (less pleasurable sex), but there are other remedies such as steroid creams and  in the case of a tight frenulum (which is a frequent cause of tight prepuce), frenuloplasty (snip!) is probably a better option. The frenulum is the tissue that connects the prepuce to the underside of the penis. If it's too short, it can make cleaning difficult.  (By the way there is another "frenulum", called the lingual frenulum which connects the tongue to the floor of the mouth)

The general consensus seems to be that the risks outweigh the benefits, particularly as there are other solutions available. The downside is that men are generally very reluctant to see a doctor about anything related to that and will put up with it.

I hope that didn't make your eyes water too much

So.... why not just teach your kids to wash properly and avoid both the risks involved in a medical procedure and infection from lack of cleanliness?

or if it's a more serious issue as I described, get it seen to while they're young and less embarassed.

"Randomized control trials, including in Uganda, Kenya and South Africa, have shown that circumcision can reduce the transmission of HIV in heterosexual men by as much as 65 percent. Introducing it widely in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in southern Africa where male circumcision rates are low, could prevent an estimated two million infections in the next ten years and save as many as four million lives over the next 20 years."

Earlier Male Circumcision May Help to Slow Rates of HIV, HPV Transmission in South Africa

According to Anna R. Giuliano, Ph.D., program leader in cancer epidemiology at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Fla., and colleagues in the Netherlands, earlier circumcision of males in South Africa may be a positive step in slowing the spread of both HIV and the human papillomavirus (HPV). Their commentary and data were published in a recent issue of the British medical journal The Lancet Infectious Diseases (Vol. 11) 581-582.

"Countries with high incidences of HIV also have high incidences of cancer-related HPV," said Giuliano. "This is especially true in South Africa."

Male Circumcision Reduces HIV Risk: No Further Evidence Needed, According To Review

ScienceDaily (Apr. 15, 2009) — Three recent African trials support male circumcision for reducing the risk of contracting HIV in heterosexual men. After including new data from these trials in their review, Cochrane Researchers have changed their previous conclusions that there was insufficient evidence to recommend circumcision as an intervention to prevent HIV infection in heterosexual men.

How would the belief that a circumcised penis protects the owner from AIDS help in reducing the spread of AIDS? Sounds like a double edged sword to me. There are already enough problems in Africa with silly superstitions about STDs that actually make the situation worse. With options like condoms, monogamy, etc available the real benefit in fighting AIDS is likely to be non-existent.

Oh, for f-cks sake. Who f-ckin' cares about the whole purple helmet/covered wagon argument?

If you've already got the chop then you can't get it put on and if you haven't got the chop you're hardly likely to go out and get it done. As for what other people have or what parents choose for their children? who fuggin' cares?

Although, considering that you're such a knob end (covered or otherwise), this thread is hardly surprising coming from you, Falah.
