The Rights fear of the rising Greens
Mar 2nd, 2012 at 9:12pm

For 100 years, the two major parties of Australia, both now fundamentally conservative in their nature, have sat unchallenged in the old and new Parliaments, confident in the loyalty of the fellow conservative mentality of the dominant baby boomer voters of the 20th century.

No longer.

It appears, if recent election trends have been anything to go by, that the unquestionably Left Australian Greens are beginning to stamp out their influence in our Politics. Described by the Far Right as "eco-terrorists", "Communists" and even as brazenly petty as "filthy hippies", they're seemingly now the Dark Horse that refuses to go away.

Someone slightly Left of Centre such as myself would be expected to be entirely supportive of their rise, and perhaps, considering the recent performances of the Conservative big Dogs I am in support of a third voice that can command decisions in times of immovability and stagnation.

Such as right now. However, I will not in good conscience overlook the arrogance that bubbled out of the Greens after their extreme rise in power in 2010. The Carbon Tax lie is fundamentally of their making, a fact they have never denied, but have also never been brave enough to admit in public.

Ever since then it seems, they have disappeared into the shadows, afraid of any further backlash the use of their influence in the Senate might provoke. With the difficulties of a Hung Parliament still hanging over everyones heads, they have adopted a somewhat ironically conservative position over the past year.

Which begs the question of when and how the Greens will again flex their muscle. Euthanasia? Same Sex Marriage? Pokie laws? Which will come first?

I know of only one thing; they will never get my primary vote until they start bringing social issues to the forum, specifically decriminalization of Marijuana. Those are my terms.

Until that time comes (if ever), anyone who shares my pessimistic position, or even the ever fearful Conservative Right (as the heavily anti-Greens dominant PS section today demonstrates) will be watching their every move closely. VERY closely.

A Conservative trying to dictate the terms of Democracy. Unethical indeed.

As this video shows, Greens didn't hide their agenda in 2010, prior to the election ... and since, haven't shifted from it.

It was Labor who sold out and lied to their support base by supporting Greens' carbon pricing.

Labor and Liberals could of gone to the governor general and said that they could not form a government and so create conditions for a new federal election.

Greens do not have anything to apologise for, to anyone. Greens are on the correct path, thats why their core support is rock solid behind them, all 11%.

The Greens want to conserve everything  - except the social landscape.

The stupid bastards. They are against the conservationists of civilising human values. Barbaric values are to be preserved if they belong to pre-literate, tinted peoples. Truly civilising values are to be swept aside in the name of gay whales and yellow bellies finches.

Anyone who understands the Greens world view would find it revolting and be as disgusted as I am. Cool

They are at war with everything else apart from Israelis, they at war against the earths climate, dams, lightbulbs, fossil fuels, buildings

They helped in Juliar breaking her no carbon tax pledge, as far as im concerned we have witnessed a new level of scumness in the left and they are the greens

The greens will never ever be a mainstream party, mark my words, no matter how bad labor goes, SO THESE LEFTIES ARE DREAMING IF THEY THINK THE GREENS WILL RISE TO ANY SIGNIFICANT PROPORTION beyond its current around 12-16 percent support

Wow you call 10%'ers who remain 10%'ers, a rise. What in the morning their weenies rise. I fear that, especially because of their sexuality vs mine. Too many rising weenies for my liking.

What does scare me also
I am still waiting for you to show me where I can see the greens policies fully costed and their budget fully costed for Australia. Are they still a party of fairies and expensive unworkable policies?

Yes I am frightened to death of this astronomical rise.

Looking at current polling and their level of increase over recent times.

They should be ready to govern in about 2243.
