and cruel our economy or whats left of it.

Its the price we pay for good economic management in this country.
The dollar would have been much less if the Libs had got into power because their policy of a surplus at all costs would have sent us into a deep recession.
Take your pick ..a strong economy and a strong dollar or a weak economy and a weak dollar.

in the GOOD OLD DAYS of yor... before 2007  and the PANIC of 2008.... the world is going to BURN....

we HAD an INDUSTRY.. to fall back on...

you are saying its okay to cruel the mining industry....  its your version of a good economy...

but what will we depend on for our overseas trade??????

what will we sell.. except drug mules. paedophiles of which we seem to have more than our share...cant see anyone buying them though...

what else did you have in mind??????

since when has a surplus been an error of judgement... oooppps dont answer that we know its against the green policies.

whats with the futurefund.. have they plundered that yet?

The manufacturing industry you are talking about has been shrinking since the late 1970's[/quot

EXCUSE MY WHILST I HAVE A TEMPER TANTRUM....

SO THAT MAKES IT OKAY TO SCREW WHATS LEFT IN YOUR LIMITED LOGIC?i

No...Im just showing that it started under a Fraser/Howard govt and has continued under Labor and Liberal govts.

your digging yourself in deeper.. just pathetic!

why not go back to when  the wooden boat building industry went under????????????

How am I digging myself deeper..I reckon we should keep looking forward to new sustainable industries and jobs in the global market. I agree with the govts that we have had since the 1970's and I disagree with the backward thinking of Tony Abbott and his ministry of hate.

hahahaha... so getting rid of what we have is a good idea and it will make way for WHAT INDUSTRY do you have in mind....

dont tell me.. SOLAR PANELS>.. that are imported from CHINA>. all we have to do is install them....hahahahahahaha.

and then once the govt gives them all a nice fat rebate... they then snatch the rebate away and leave them to sink or swim...

I still dont see how we can trade that with our overseas traders whom we are now desperately reliant on.

For a country the size of Australia research and development is where the high paid jobs are.
The manufacturing can be done in low wage high population countries.
This country is doing well partly because govts for the last 40 yrs have had the courage to look to the jobs of the future that suit a wealthy country of our size.

so we can depend on research and development. to replace out steel industry and our mining..

can you really see that being BIG on exports??

will it also employ the numbers that our manufacturing and steel/mining industries do or DID.?

we cant even put a satellite up to keep the NBN doing what they claim it will do.. we have had to farm that job off overseas..

thats how far advanced we are..

The steel industry has been losing jobs for decades as its become more automated to stay competitive and the mining industry employs very few people compared to other major sectors.
Australia is more than just a dirty big hole and Australians are more than just the white trash of Asia good for nothing but wishing for the easy way out with no thought to the future.

I quite like Australia for the reasons Ive outlined above. Unlike Europe we've looked towards the future in a dynamic and important region of the globe for a few decades. Where as they have done sweet bugga all and hoped it would come to them.
The trick is not to fall for the same trap Europeans fell for and elect popularist govts which will ultimately destroy our economy.
In short..Im quite happy in the Asia Pacific region  Smiley

Whats it got to do with the Greens?
They haven't been running the country since the 1970's
All these changes have been made by Liberal and Labor govts..its just Abbott and his adoption of populism that wants to ignore important industrial and economic reform.
