One more gone, two more to go?

Queensland Labor to be wiped out: poll

Queensland's Labor government is headed for a devastating defeat at next Saturday's state election, if the latest opinion poll proves accurate.

According to a Galaxy Poll, published in Queensland's Sunday Mail, the Liberal National Party retains a huge 20-point advantage on a two-party preferred basis.

The LNP leads Labor 60-to-40 per cent in the poll of 800 voters taken on Thursday and Friday nights. The results were the same as the previous poll in mid-February.

The Sunday Mail says Labor, which currently holds 51 seats, could end up with as few as 12 seats.

If Labor can take any comfort from the poll, it might be that while LNP leader Campbell Newman is the preferred premier over the incumbent Anna Bligh, he only leads by eight points, 51-43.

All opinion polls have a margin of error, but the huge LNP lead suggests Mr Newman will be Queensland's next premier, as long as wins the seat of Ashgrove, where he is in a tight race with incumbent Kate Jones.

As I have said previously, it is likely that the Liberals will be in power in all states & Federally.

With Queensland seemingly a forgone conclusion, that only leaves South Australia & the next Federal election left, before Labor disappear completely.

However, for those who may think that will solve all of our problems, rest assured it will not!

IN FACT, HAVING THE LIBERALS IN POWER, WILL ONLY EXACERBATE OUR ECONOMIC WOES, AS THEY REVERT TO THEIR STANDARD, GENERAL AUS-TERITY APPROACH!

The switch of the states to Liberal is just the natural political cycle...I think Labor has been in power in Queensland for 20 yrs so its no surprise voters reckon its time for a change. Labor is a victim of its own successes and if the Libs manage to hang on to power for more than a decade in each of the states the same will happen to them.
As for federal politics, Howard led a country with Labor in all of the states and in fact it helped keep him in power because he was able to deflect the blame on to them and there's no reason to expect Gillard wont benefit in the same way because of Lib govts in the states.
We should also remember all of the Liberal states have moderate leaders where as Abbott is a hard line ultra conservative

Victoria had a Myki system costing millions which didn't work (i spoke to a mate who works in that area and the system is frighteningly bad - did you know if a tram goes over a multi-crossing point, the system gets wiped and can't read the card....).
Victoria was also left with a debt of billions for a de-sal plant which sits idle and has never been needed once.

Queensland has sold off the public assets, presided over a disastrous attempt to get businesses up to the state and admitted its failure.
It's lack of support for farmers in the North will lead to a catastrophic vote up there.

All in all, in the 3 key states, Labor are leaving all three of them in a total mess.

How long have Labor been in power in all the states?
My arguement is the longer you are in power the more often you will go through positive and negative economic cycles. The same happens to long term Liberal govts as it does to long term Labor govts so I hope no one is surprised when the political cycle repeats itself in the coming decade.
To get excited whether its all Labor or all Liberal govts in power is to ignore history and political as well as economic cycles.

Unfortunately, the Federal situation is much the same and I venture the other states are similar!

Whilst I'm not a Communist system supporter in general, perhaps there may be some issues to take note of, given the current Chinese Economic position?

After paying off Keating's debt of nearly $100bn, Howard/Costello set about creating an enormous surplus that - suprise, suprise - Labor has gone and wasted through its economic incompetence! Australia seems to always be far better off under a Coalition government than a Labor government.
