A few stuff-ups? Tell that to the families of the young men who died in the bungled/rorted insulation scheme and to those families who were lucky to live when their houses burned down. Tell that to the families who lost their life savings when their businesses went bust due to bungled stimulus scheme's. Tell that to schools who did not get value for money in the bungled and massively rorted BER. Tell that to the Australian people who now have to pay back an ever-increasing debt thanks to the incompetence of a panic-stricken Labor government that had absolutely no idea what on earth it was doing during the GFC, as evidenced by the deaths, houses burnt down and billions of dollars wasted.

SENSES THE DESPERATION! SMELL THE FEAR!

Labor supporters are desperately casting about trying to find a policy - ANY policy that Labor hasnt comprehensively screwed up.

NOT EASY, IS IT?

NBN, and burying workchoices.

DESPITE the campaigns run by The Australian and The Telegraph, BOTH the BER and Home Insulation Scheme were innovative, successful and financialy sound

The BER - the largest nation building project undetaken in Australia's history - giving 98.5% value for money
The HIS reducing fires per insulation by around 80% - a result of a FIRST installation national compliance standard

And BOTH were major factors in leaving Australia relatively unscathed throuh the GFC - that gave similar economies (and still DOES) double digit unemployment figures

Regarding the section I highlighted in bold red text, please tell the families of those who died in Garrett's bungled insulation scheme that it was a success and while you're at it, please tell the families whose houses burned down. Also, please tell the schools with a handful of students (including one that closed last year) that the hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on canteens that are too small or halls that do not accomodate every student that they got value for money after being told to butt-out and were not allowed to have a say in how the funds would be used in their school. Neither of those scheme's can be called a success. Just look at Garrett - he lost his portfolio because he was hopelessly incompetent.

Buzz has a different definition of successful and well run. It doesnt include concepts the business world uses like: NEED, VALUE FOR MONEY, LONG TERM OBJECTIVES

a govt project is considered successful if it concludes at all. And I cant even say 'concludes without killing anyone!"
