In that case, he needs new lawyers as they are letting his name get dragged through the mud for too long.

If you want to take that as a sign of guilt, so be it.

If he truly was innocent, both he and his lawyer would be doing everything they can to cooperate and bring this farce to a speedy conclusion. Obviously this has been dragging on for quite some time and there seems to be no end in sight. Given the absence of anything being offered by either Thomson or his lawyer to refute these allegations, one can only assume that he is trying to drag this out for as long as possible. He is only trying to avoid the inevitable, though - fines and/or prison and a loss of his parliamentary pension and entitlements after he loses his seat at the next election.

It is not uncommon for innocent people who co operate with the police to find themselves behind bars.

I think you've been watching too many B-grade action flicks lately!

Who's defending him..Im saying only an idiot ignores their lawyers advice.
If he is ultimately found guilty he should be chucked out of parliament and into jail.

You haven't seen any? maybe you need to turn on the tv or read a paper every now and then... the libs have been on a witch hunt from day one with this one .... there are a thousand cases of fraud investigated every year, why do they not show the same 'concern' for any of the other cases?

You seriously believe the Police are going to deliberately, knowingly lock up someone who is innocent? Grow a brain, will ya!?!?!?

Why don't you try to get out in the real world every now and then .... not every one bought to trial is found guilty you know ... you can put some of that down to clever lawyers, but even you have to allow that some is due to bad policing .....

I am neither protecting supporting or accusing Mr Thompson.

If he is guilty and the police lay charges they can prove go for it hope he gets what he deserves if he is guilty.

I just do not go for the guilty till proven innocent conservative routine.

Remember Hicks – 8 years locked up with no charge and in the end convicted of doing the same thing which John Howard was also guilty of.

Remember Dr Haneef Locked up in Australia on an untrue bogus excuse meant to test the legislation even though the evidence was known to be incorrect.

The Conservatives considered them all to be guilty till proven innocent. Funny though the Qld Premier was held to a different standard? In some cases you are right to consider that where there is smoke there may be fire.

I think Thomson is used to people covering for him and he is hoping that any evidence will somehow disappear thanks to his invisible buddies.

Maybe he hasn't yet caught on to the fact that Labor will no longer be in power after the next election and therefore will be unable to impede investigations into both himself and the HSU.
