A self-absorbed man who stabbed his estranged wife to death in front of 300 people because she disobeyed him will spend at least 26 years behind bars.

Zialloh Abrahimzadeh, 57, was sentenced today to life in jail after pleading guilty on day 11 of his murder trial earlier this year to killing Zahra at a Persian function at the Adelaide Convention Centre in March 2010.

Before he changed his plea during his Supreme Court trial, Abrahimzadeh had admitted stabbing Zahra but said he didn't mean to and it wasn't his fault.

Advertisement: Story continues below Supreme Court Justice John Sulan also set a 26-year non-parole period for Abrahimzadeh.

The judge said Abrahimzadeh had shown no remorse when he wrote to his children after the murder - blaming their mother and her family for all his troubles.

"You were completely self absorbed ... you have shown little or no remorse," Justice Sulan said today.

Justice Sulan said evidence at Abrahimzadeh's trial showed the migrant resource centre worker had projected a double life.

He was a violent bully to his wife and three children at home and a respected, caring man to the migrant community in Adelaide.

All three of his children testified against him, saying they and their mother were frightened of Abrahimzadeh.

They said they all moved out in secret after he threatened Zahra with a knife.

Justice Sulan said Abrahimzadeh had threatened to kill his wife if she didn't stop divorce proceedings in the family court.

"But she continued to disobey your demands," he said.

The judge said Abrahimzadeh had gone to the function armed with a knife intending to attack his estranged wife.

He stabbed her eight times in the back not long after the frightened woman had arranged for an escort to her car. She had gone to the party with her oldest daughter and her son's girlfriend, who witnessed the attack........

Husband admits murdering wife, court told

A MELBOURNE man who claimed his missing wife might have been abducted by Muslim extremists has admitted he killed her, after detectives discovered a body buried in the couple's backyard...

...Detective Senior Sergeant Ron Iddles told the court that a woman's body was found buried underneath a concrete pad and a newly-constructed timber deck in the backyard of the couple's Ashwood home.

"He has made full admissions in relation to this offence," he told the hearing.

Ahmadi had previously claimed that his 46-year-old wife, also known as Mandy Ahmadi or Glorious, could have been a target of extremists for converting Muslims to Christianity.

But homicide detectives gave no weight to the theory and a day after taking on the case entered the couple's home this morning armed with a search warrant and rakes and shovels.

Det Sen Sgt Iddles said Ahmadi was arrested in the morning and interviewed throughout the day.

By late afternoon police had ripped up the deck at the property, in Melbourne's southeastern suburbs, and unearthed the remains, which police believe are those of his missing wife.

Ahmadi had reported Zahara missing two days after she vanished on December 16 last year.

The couple came to Australia with their two children as Iranian refugees in 1999, and later converted from Islam to Christianity.

Zahara was actively involved in converting Muslims to Christianity, which leading her husband and their church to repeatedly make claims that Muslim hardliners could have abducted her.

"Maybe somebody kidnapped (her)," her husband told Network Ten earlier this week.

"We don't like you, you Christian and you convert the people to Christianity."

Police dismissed those claims yesterday...

THE family of a man who stabbed his wife 86 times, cheered in court yesterday as he was convicted of murder.

Former accountant David Lilburn,45, who attacked his wife Ann after she told him she wanted a divorce, showed no emotion as he was found guilty. He now faces life behind bars when he returns to the dock for sentence in September.

There were cries of “yes” from family members while other wept with relief as the unanimous verdict was given at the High Court in Glasgow yesterday.

The Lilburns’ three children, David Michael, 26, Paul, 25, and Laura Ann, 19, sat beside each other as their father - nicknamed “psycho,” by the family, was convicted.

Outside court, David Michael, a hospital doctor who now uses his middle name to be different from his father, said his mother was the “most caring person” the family had known.

Police say Joseph Warnock stabbed to death his wife on Father's Day. Their 8- and 12-year-old daughters witnessed the crime.

The stabbing happened four days after Angela Warnock asked a judge for a permanent order banning her husband's contact with the family.

The victim told the judge she was afraid, calling her husband an alcoholic and a cocaine addict.

The couple was going through a divorce.

Warnock will be sentenced October 9th. He faces 55 years in prison

Life for man who stabbed sleeping wife in throat

Brian Vickers (43) ...pleaded guilty yesterday to murdering his wife, Joan Vickers, a mother of four, on April 20, 2009.

Her elderly father, Michael O'Connor, was sleeping in a downstairs bedroom at the time of the killing.

Vickers, who has 10 minor previous convictions, had pleaded not guilty to the murder of his wife last Tuesday. His trial was due to open yesterday at the Central Criminal Court but, following a delay yesterday morning, Mr Justice John Edwards rearraigned him and Vickers replied "guilty". A loud sigh escaped from his family.

Husband guilty of killing Vodafone executive wife after affair

Alisdair Sinclair, 48, launched a “sustained and ferocious attack” on his wife Sally, 40, moments after she confessed that she was cheating on him.

Mrs Sinclair, who was head of business analysis at the mobile phone giant, had tried to divert her husband’s suspicions by claiming she was a lesbian.

But he confronted her on August 16 after finding a handwritten love letter by his wife to a male colleague which read: “I lust after you.”

Sinclair’s suspicions had also been heightened after he found new underwear his wife had bought before going on an overnight business trip.

Mrs Sinclair had filed for divorce in July and the murder took place on the day that he was due to officially respond to her request.

After she admitted her infidelity, Sinclair attacked her in the kitchen of their £1 million country home near Amport, Hants.

Tamworth man found guilty of murdering wife in front of her daughter

A Tamworth man who stabbed his wife to death despite her eight-year-old daughter's efforts to stop the attack has been jailed for at least 20 years after being found guilty of murder.

Simon Downer, whose step-daughter's evidence formed the "central plank" of the case against him, showed no emotion as he was convicted of killing Tracey Downer following a two-week trial at Birmingham Crown Court.

Passing a mandatory life sentence, Judge Robert Juckes QC said the killing was aggravated by Downer's conviction for stabbing a previous partner and the fact it was witnessed by the eight-year-old.

Ordering that Downer serve at least 20 years before being considered for parole, the judge praised the victim's daughter for giving "powerful and clear" eyewitness evidence.

The eight-year-old, who cannot be named, told the court how she had disarmed her step-father before he selected another "massive" 12-inch knife to stab her mother.

I can't see an Aboriginal or a Muslim amongst this lot of Aussie wife murderers.

New figures paint an alarming picture of Aboriginal domestic violence, with indigenous offenders responsible for 46 per cent of all reported domestic assaults in WA this year.

The figures, compiled by WA Police, also show that indigenous offenders were responsible for 175, or 16 per cent, of the 1078 sexual assaults committed between January and August this year.

Of 162 sexual assaults committed by children aged 10 to 17 over the same period, 34 per cent were committed by Aboriginal youths.

Aboriginal people make up less than 3 per cent of WA's population.

If there's 3% doing 46% of the reported domestic assaults, that group has obviously got issues DON'T THEY PANSI?
