GUN LAWS
May 10th, 2012 at 1:12pm

Please sign this partition so that this terrible incident doesn't happen again.

If you don't agree, that's ok, just don't go on with a lot of crapola about it.

Thanks guys and gals.

"The pistol club from which my sister took a gun obviously had inadequate systems in place when it came to managing its firearms. Yet this club was deemed suitable by the NSW Firearms Registry to conduct business with respect to deadly weapons. The licensing police officer for that local area command told me this offence, the taking of a firearm, could have happened in any club in Sydney.

The inadequacy of enforcement is not the only flaw in our system of regulation. My sister should never have been allowed near a gun. Yet in a state of extreme ill health, all that stood between her and a firearm was a questionnaire. Her answers were never checked for their veracity. It is absurd that someone can gain access to a firearm this way but that is precisely what section 6B of the Firearms Act allows."

great thinking!

Blame the tool, rather than the nutjob who wields it.

I thought it was about the law that allowed this to happen.

Did you even bother to read it?

Not so much the gun laws are at fault as the doctor treating her should have done something long before she shot her father. But it is much easier to blame a gun than an incompetent doctor. Mind you the gun club needs a kick in the ring as well, very poor weapons control.

Later, Michelle says, one of the doctors was aware Shamin was frequenting gun clubs. ''They should have treated her better and had her scheduled [committed to an institution],'' she says

That doesnt give enough information for me to sign it. What law? Is it to take guns away? It it to make ppl store them safer? Is it to legalise guns?

Sometimes there is too much 'Freedom'.
Lest we forget the discipline of 'Conviction' that our Penal history gave to us.

GUNS:  they are a MILITARY device more than any other industry - even LAW or FARMING.

Only the MILITARY should be direct responsibility for GUNS - not the Police or Law.

If a Gangsta has a gun, the Police should call the Military so the Gangsta can be shot dead as an act of war rather than be given 2 years for shooting innocents.

The Legal / Police system SHOOT THEMSELVES IN THE FOOT by allowing 'anyone' to own a gun with all this bullcrap legislation.

Only the Military should own a gun. If you are a Hunter or a Farmer, then you must be strictly monitored by the Military or hire Military personel.
Sure beats them marching in circles at Holsworthy and waiting for the USA & UK to get em some action ...like laying in the boot from a safe distance during a bar fight.
Military should be doing more for 'THIS' country.

What 'Freedom' people need a gun for is beyond me? Especially people who have no real legitamite excuse to have a gun except to yell out "Freedom" Roll Eyes for want of having a gun for free and not paying the Military way.

In Bolivia - only the Military have guns. If you carry a gun and are not part of the Military. Chances are that you will be dead. You could still be a Drug Dealer, but you just can't enforce your dealing with Guns. The Military leave the 'drug' issue up to the Medics. Which I think is a fair call.

Australia has legally based itself on the USA dictatorship of Politics. Where even Police are so heavily armed, that they might as well be Military. Roll Eyes
You can't say that Police is just a 'domestic' issue when the USA makes itself well known as the International 'Sheriff'.

Cops with guns is like watching a heart transplant operation on a playing field in regards to knowing the differences of Health & Fitness Industries/Cultures/etc.

...many time I've been threatened to be shot at. Its amazing the reaction when I say "I hope you are a better shot than my Military mates?" rather than revert to the 'Cop' answer.  Wink
