No catchy 80's tune here just a filthy pun.

Shameful second intervention slips under the radar
http://www.indymedia.org.au/2012/05/11/shameful-second-intervention-slips-under-...

I love when a story actually points out that something important has been covered by journalistic dynamite manure stories.

Quote:
Right now, Australian political commentary is focused on the budget. For a while, it will
be the major topic of the day for journalists and the media. In the midst of all this, it
appears that something awful is going to slip under the radar.

That is, the second intervention. A raft of the so-called Stronger Futures bills is going to
be debated in the Senate. The Coalition and Labor support intervention two. The
Greens have valiantly struggled against the intervention, to little avail.

The article is long but worth a read.

This is not good. Also demonstrates the fact that there is no difference between those 2 parties except for media backing.

Any ideas of anything we can actually do about this?

Not really. If I see an injustice of significant proportion, I write to GetUp and ask for their help. At least they can get some media attention if they decide to run a campaign.

You can also send emails to your local mp's and senators etc. Sometimes you'll get a bite, but mostly you'll get a generic reply or get totally ignored.

A funny thing, in the Qld floods, I asked for urgent help  for milk and formula for the babies of the region. I sent about 50 emails. Some responded in time but offered no real help, Another ( I won't mention who)responded about a month later, poor babies, waiting a month to be fed.

One thing to remember,  when the sh1te hits the fan, don't expect the government to help.
