So there were several options Ashby could have taken.

He made a decision to take legal action and in the opinion of the defence lawyer Ashby should have taken less damaging options

Shocked Shocked Shocked

Only after a lengthy session of "reach around" followed by a long cuddle with Fifi Pyne

How does that make the allegations any less serious

What are the allegations...that Slipper hit on him?
That happens every day in thousands of workplaces around the country and does not constitute harassment and unless Ashby has credible witnesses that are not connected to the current political witch hunt it will be thrown out of court with costs awarded to Slipper.
You cant prosecute or sue someone simply for asking you on a date..gay or straight

That's why we have sexual harassment laws in the workplace

And if you see this as Slipper simply "hitting" on Ashby then you are disgusting for supporting sexual harassment in the workplace

As far as I can tell thats all that happened..there are no allegations of  sexual assault, rape or anything that made Ashby quit or punch Slipper in the nose the first time it happened.
We all know now that the Libs have set Slipper up simply because he had the nerve to stand up to them and then ended up being the fairest and best Speaker the house has seen in a very long time.
We all know Abbott is after him and after what he did to Pauline Hanson we also know Abbott has no problem with ruining someone with trumped up charges.

Gist and Scope - who knows what goes through the mind of a sexual harassment victim? I don't see anything wrong with what he did. Do you care to explain?

Skippy - I didn't see any flirtation from Ashby in those texts, what did you see?

I am not being partisan on this issue, I think that Joyce was insensitive in his comments as well. I just want to see justice done. Nothing more, nothing less.

Alleged sexual harassment victim. These Liberal drones are having a real problem with this presumption of innocence thing.

The same ones you and I discussed when this case broke. I cant be bothered going back over old threads, but if you want to pull out the old thread when this case broke, Ashby is flirting with Slipper on one of those texts. I even bought it up WITH you and you agreed, how soon they forget when it doesn't suit their purpose. Roll Eyes

Well, I honestly don't remember. I am not saying that I didn't, but I don't remember seeing anything that I would consider a flirt, and don't know how to retrieve the thread.

I think that your last comment is kind of unfair. You know that I am not a fan of either Labor or the Coalition, and want to see justice done, no more or less.

Actually..Ive not seen you type a harsh word against the coalition

Really? Then you musn't have read many of my posts, because I have several times, such as Abbott's ridiculous "They just are" comment, Hockey's weak performance on Q and A, and have expressed on more than one occassion that I don't want a Coalition landslide win, because I believe that it's important to have an effective Opposition.

Also, perhaps you should read my posts in this very thread, adel. I said that Joyce's comment was out of line and insensitive. I have also been a swinging voter all of my life, so your comment is ludicrous.

Even if we accepted swinging voters are impartial, you have pledged lifelong fealty to the Liberal Party. Besides trashing your own credibility, it also means you can no longer use your swinging credentials to claim some sort of rational high ground.

Nothing can make the allegations less serious. It is the credibility of these serious allegations that has been brought into question. Perhaps this is a little too subtle for you, Maqqa.

Maqqa seems to think all is fair when it comes to installing Abbott as PM..even destroying someones personal and professional life.

I can recall you claiming to be a swing voter and the in the next breath vowing never to vote Labor again. That means you are not a swing voter, unless you plan on swinging Green, then I offer you my humble apologies.

I don't see how that means that I love the Libs. I will never vote Labor again, after this. However, I am looking at minor parties, or putting in a donkey vote. Never ever ever voting for the Greens.
