Australia under Abbott
May 19th, 2012 at 9:24am

Given the recent repeat recessions under modern western conservative govts and the regressive policy ideas the Aussie Libs came up with during the GFC we can safely assume an Australia under Abbott would look similar to the 1930's depression era

Independent economists said that if we had implemented the policies the Libs proposed when the GFC hit the world that we would have been plunged into another Great Depression.
So given Abbot's history of being a third rate minister and his ex colleagues criticism of him being economically inept why should we expect anything less when he becomes PM?
Just because the man is an expert in whipping the masses into a frenzy of hate and fear does not mean he has the expertise to run a country.

I think its a valid argument given the ridiculous economic policies proposed by the coalition when the GFC first hit the world and the predictions by most of the independent economists at the time.
In fact the Libs proposed similar policies to those that sunk this country into the depression in the 1930's

As for links..you were part of the argument at the time and praised tightening the countries belt to preserve surpluses at all costs just as the worlds banks and western countries were falling like dominoes.
I'm older than you Maqqa so I doubt your memory is that bad.

These imbeciles that want an Abbott gov should be brave enough to put their name to their vote. That way we can punish them  when phony tony destroys this country.

And what crap would that be genius? do you mean the best performing OECD economy in the GFC, or is it the vision to introduce the DIS?, maybe it was the fore thought to build the NBN but foreshore it is the understanding of future preparation by introducing an ETS to begin the long process of developing new methods of driving the country other than the finite mining industry. But most of all it would be that outrage of a tax the MRRT. How dare they expect the mining companies to pay for what they rip out of the heart of our nation that belongs to all Australians past present and future.

I can not say what Abbott would do because clearly he has not got a clue himself, i am sure exactly where we are headed right now and it feels sure footed  with the Euro zone going into meltdown and the very tough times ahead, Abbott offers nothing except massive cutbacks and the fantasy that the boom days long gone and will not be back with credit to waist for all.

to be honest, I do not think of Abbot as a true Australian, nor Gillard, their first thought is not for this country or its traditional owners, but for the Maggot and meeting the needs of the maggot.
