Are you the result of an incestuous relationship Miss Borg? It would explain a lot.

He is probably the son of his sister who later on became his wife.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_Victoria

Queen Victoria (Alexandrina Victoria; 24 May 1819 – 22 January 1901) was the monarch of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from 20 June 1837 until her death. From 1 May 1876, she used the additional title of Empress of India.

Victoria was the daughter of Prince Edward, Duke of Kent and Strathearn, the fourth son of King George III. Both the Duke of Kent and King George III died in 1820, and Victoria was raised under close supervision by her German-born mother Princess Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld. She inherited the throne at the age of 18, after her father's three elder brothers had all died leaving no legitimate, surviving children.

The United Kingdom was already an established constitutional monarchy, in which the Sovereign held relatively little direct political power.

Privately, Victoria attempted to influence government policy and ministerial appointments. Publicly, she became a national icon, and was identified with strict standards of personal morality.

Victoria married her first cousin, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, in 1840.

Their nine children married into royal and noble families across the continent, tying them together and earning her the nickname "the grandmother of Europe". After Albert's death in 1861, Victoria plunged into deep mourning and avoided public appearances. As a result of her seclusion, republicanism temporarily gained strength, but in the latter half of her reign, her popularity recovered. Her Golden and Diamond Jubilees were times of public celebration.

This thread was prolly started to use as a weapon in the gay marriage debate but it actually has nothing to do with gay marriage. Its a separate thing. Nobody is calling for it either so its not even a slippery slope.

It is also usually an abusive relationship, at least in the traditional context. We consider any sexual relationship to be inappropriate when there is an element of authority involved - eg teacher/student (regardless of the ages involved), boss/employee etc. You should seek help from the organisations mentioned in the OP.

That is hardly a solution.

These days, with family units getting smaller or more distant - ie many people not living anywhere near their cousins, or even their biological parents or half siblings, you would expect this to become more common.

As an example societies in India which allow marriage between close relatives are riddled with genetic deformities and predisposition towards certain illnesses.

It's a pity that most (western) people can't respect their innate feelings these days, even though this is what western democracy initially set out to achieve.

There are many aspects of the ongoing human condition and the interaction with the environment which have genetically been proven to be disadvantageous to the furtherment of societies.

The more we become accustomed to a soft society (that has been built upon hardships), the more we seem to accept aspects that are detrimental to future societies.

How far we go in accepting what is being shoved down our throats, and that which spits in the face of democracy, over the general innate human condition which has naturally risen to the top is yet to be seen.

i know peter singer felt that sex between siblings (with contraception)  might be the next tabboo to go.

i note a female dolphin trainer was also asked to leave an island resort after developing a mutually satisfying sexual relationship with a male dolphin. this appeared to be consensual.  clips on youtube are quite revealing   Smiley
