Syrian religion

Well it seems the Syrians are following their religion with all sweetness and light.
This is a case of intolerance common to all religions.
Absolute bloody minded murder, still that's religion for you.

Because we all know that 'real' Muslims wouldn't murder anyone, or at least not without making sure they can explain it away as the victim's fault.

I think the plan is not to kill the Shia, except for the leaders and anyone who talks about it, then the Shia can help with the next bunch.

bludger,

The Syrian regime are godless. The people they are murdering are Muslim believers.

I think you've got your story mixed up, hardly surprising.

Not only are they godless, they were sneakily put there by the west against the will of the locals to keep the Muslims down.

Right Abu?

Well a few things we do know.

1) The Baathist ideology is nationalist & socialist, nothing to do with Islam. The Syrian variety was founded by Arab nationalists of all religious backgrounds, but who believed in secularism/atheism, not the religions of their ancestors.

2) The Baathist goals, whilst they claimed to be in the interests of the nations they existed in, usually did not serve the interests of those nations at all, but instead the interests of foreign powers. The Soviets & French & Americans, at various times.

Clearly "The Game" is not controlled at all by local players.

FD, if you had the requisite intellect to understand this kind of stuff, you'd know about it already I think. Clearly you don't.

That article contradicts your claims about the Baath party being nationalistic and socialistic.

Quote:
The Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party (Arabic: حزب البعث العربي الاشتراكي Hizb Al-Ba'ath Al-'Arabi Al-Ishtiraki‎) was a political party founded in Syria by Michel Aflaq, Salah al-Din al-Bitar and associates of Zaki al-Arsuzi. The party espoused Ba'athism, an ideology mixing Arab nationalist, pan-Arabism, Arab socialist and anti-imperialist interests. Ba'athism calls for the renaissance or resurrection and unification of the Arab world into a single state. Its motto—"Unity, Liberty, Socialism" (wahda, hurriya, ishtirakiya)—refers to Arab unity, and freedom from non-Arab control and interference.

The party was founded by the merger of the Arab Ba'ath Movement, led by Aflaq and al-Bitar, and the Arab Ba'ath, led by al-Arsuzi, on 7 April 1947 as the Arab Ba'ath Party. The party quickly established branches in other Arab countries, although it would only hold power in Iraq and Syria. The Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party was merged with the Arab Socialist Party led by Akram al-Hawrani in 1952 to form the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party.
