posters that insinuate that Tony Abbott is racist, homophobic and sexist

It's a bit close to the mark - I can see why he would be upset.

I personally do not think that he is all that racist, probably better than many in his party.

The people standing behind him holding the placards had every right to stand there - free speech. Should his minders have ordered them to move or frog-marched them off if they refused? Then we'd have seen you complain his people were denying people their right to free speech. The stage couldn't be moved and he came down to address protesters. So what should he have done? At least those protesters were peaceful (if passionate) and didn't trash Parliament House and injure staff, unlike Union-led protesters prior to Howard's first budget. Your hypocrisy is astonishing.

Abbott has got 'em rattled. Bob Carr was sworn in a few weeks ago and after he opened his trap and uttered the usual 'it is a great honour etc' he started to attack Abbott. The guy has got 'em spooked.

Australian politics is a blood sport and both sides are trading some heavy punches.

Which means that Tanya Plibersek's staff have every right to put up the posters. Free speech you know!

And did anyone hold a gun to Rabbott's head and demand he stand in front of those posters? Or did he choose to go along with them?

And you talk about hypocrisy?

Honestly, you make cods look smart and she's thicker than a house brick!

Spot on

You get the lefties trying to support Turnbull to take over as leader and you KNOW they are desparate.

Turnbull's numbers were terrible.

And he supports the carbon tax so there aint no way they will put him in - this would mean death for the LIBs at the next election

That's out of line and disgusting behaviour. I am a Labor/Green supporter, but Plibersek is an arrogant hypocrite unless she reprimands the staffer that did this. Attack the policy, not the man.

Thats part of the problem ...What policies? he's given us a lot of coulda woulda shoulda ... but a policy requires details before it can be seriously considered ... he has none to give, therefore we have no policy to attack

That's true, so attack the lack of policy, then. This is a low act.

'A low Act' .... Sounds like a good description for politicians ...hardly something to make a big deal about nevertheless...

I don't believe she should sack her staffer for it ... politics can bring out emotion ... you have to expect things to get heated every now and then

All that I expect her to do is say that it was wrong, and reprimand her staffer. It may not be her fault per se, but she is inherently involved. If she doesn't do so, then I see her as a hypocrite in the highest order, especially after her comments on last night's 7.30 Report, about the immature behaviour politicians. A shame, too, I used to think so highly of her.
