Firstly, I guess I will need to explain to you what a link is, as not knowing has obviously caused you to draw a wrong conclusion.
Asking people to provide a link means that when they quote, or copy material from another site, they use the little box up the top left of the reply box, the one with the little world globe picture in it, which brings up [url][/url].

Now, if I had copied and pasted a web address in between those two brackets with url in them, then it becomes a live link, which people can click on, to take them to the source material.
It is always good etiquette to do so, and sometimes a legal requirement when quoting from certain sites.

So, unknot your knickers Cods, and behave yourself, people here cut you a great deal of slack, because you tell them you are a little old lady, so they try to show restraint, but when you act churlishly, it will inspire a far different response, from some.

As for adels remarks, they were in reference to articles he quoted and linked to, which you were too lazy, or incapable, to bother finding.
So act your age, and grow up.

If anybody ever posts a live link to any site that would fairly be considered as spam, then I guess they would be banned.
So as far as referencing source material goes, a plain web address is fine.
I don't have any issue with people posting live links to reputable sites, but I can see how it could be a security issue if people unwittingly link to a dodgy site.
I guess it is up to each memeber to be accountable, and if they have any doubts, err on the side of caution.

This is a live link. If you click on it, it takes you to some other web page (in this case, LMGTFY which will perform a google search on the name of this site for you... but it could take you anywhere).

This is not a live link for exactly the same page -> http://lmgtfy.com/?q=australian+politics+forum

If you want to go to that webpage using the non-live link then you need to copy and paste it into the URL box in your browser.

Live links can potentially be dodgy but you can see where they will take you before you go there. For Firefox, just hover the mouse over it and have a look in the bottom left corner of the browser window. This shows the URL that the link will go to.

Actually there is a firefox addon that turns text links into urls and you can open in a new tab. Cant remember what its called I think theres several.

ah someone else who reads a post as he thinks it it written..never mind.. one gets used to it..

my problem with the accusations someone keeps making is the fact they do not say when and where it took place..

to read it it is as if it happened last week..when in fact it was in the 70s.

not only was he not in parliament he wasnt even close to being.. and the case was dismissed..
