BILLIONAIRE Clive Palmer was banned from flying out of Brisbane Airport on Thursday night after he refused to undergo a full-body scan.
The political aspirant who boasts his fledgling United Australia Party could see him in the Lodge by Christmas as Prime Minister had a "tantrum" before boarding an international flight, according to witnesses and ultimately refused to undergo the security check or board the flight.
But the businessman has hit back at Brisbane Airport accusing them of setting him up.
"What happened was I went through security initially to catch my private plane," he told the Sunday Mail.
But then for unexplained reasons Mr Palmer later decided to catch a domestic flight.
"I'd already gone through security. My staff heard someone say, 'here he comes, let's get him'.
"They wanted me to have a full-body scan.
"But my doctor has advised that I shouldn't have any further doses of radiation."



Mr Palmer's late first wife Sue died of cancer after the couple visited Russia shortly after the Chernobyl disaster.
The Queensland mining magnate has long feared that he and his wife were exposed to radiation during the visit. He questioned why Australian travellers could not choose between a full-body scan and a "pat down" check as occurs in some airports overseas.
Shocked travellers who witnessed the exchange have told of extraordinary scenes as the businessman argued with Brisbane Airport staff over the body scan.
"He absolutely went right off. He was abusing people," a witness said.
Mr Palmer's airport clash occurred on Thursday, the same day reports surfaced that the Rudd government may revoke his right to operate a lucrative new port in Western Australia.
Last year, Mr Palmer told the ABC's Australian Story about his wife Sue's tragic cancer battle admitting he feared their visits to Russia may have been a contributing factor.
"I think that goes back to a time when we were in Russia and we went and saw Gorbachev and it was just after we were there during the Chernobyl situation, so we were only 1000km from Chernobyl, so many people have died in Europe from that experience and I think that might have affected her at the time," he said.
"We were in Russia just after the Chernobyl situation, yeah. So that's a sad thing to think, but I think that's what may have happened."
Mr Palmer was suspended from the Liberal Party late last year after an extraordinary spray against the LNP leadership which promoted Queensland deputy premier Jeff Seeney to dismiss Mr Palmer as a "billionaire having a temper tantrum".
Boasting he will win 100 seats at the federal election his UAP party has attracted celebrity candidates including former world champion boxer Barry Michael, retired AFL footballer Doug Hawkins, and rugby league great Glenn Lazarus.

AUSTRALIAN entertainer Rolf Harris has been re-arrested by British police on further allegations of sexual offences.
Harris, 83, was first arrested in late March by officers from Operation Yewtree, established following the Jimmy Savile scandal.
He was bailed until May and then again until early August "pending further inquiries".
Now police say new allegations against Harris have come to light.
"He has returned on bail today where he was further arrested on suspicion of sexual offences in connection with further allegations made to Operation Yewtree," the Metropolitan Police said in a statement on Monday.
Harris has been bailed yet again and will return to a police station later in August.
His British agent did not return calls or reply to emails.
The Met stated: "We are not prepared to discuss further nor comment on the identity of who the man arrested may be."
Although the police have never named Harris - referring to him only as "Yewtree 5" - he has widely been identified in the mainstream media as the Berkshire man involved.
The artist and singer has lived in the county west of London for more than 50 years.
Millions of young people grew up to the sounds of his inimitable wobble board, didgeridoo and quirky singing style, while his catchphrase "Can you tell what is it yet?" became synonymous with his sketches that only became clear in the final strokes of his marker pen.
Harris was awarded an MBE in 1968, an OBE in 1977 and a CBE in 2006.
He was made Officer of the Order of Australia in the Queen's Birthday Honours list last year.
He painted a portrait of the Queen in 2005 and performed at her Diamond Jubilee concert in 2012.
But his hit British TV shows Animal Clinic and Olive The Ostrich were pulled from the air in April after top-selling tabloid The Sun named him in relation to Operation Yewtree for the first time.
UK police officers earlier this year travelled to Australia to interview two women about sex abuse allegations.
Harris, first questioned in November 2012, has not been charged and denies any wrongdoing.
He has made only two public appearances since being arrested - the latest on Sunday night at the Wickham Festival in Hampshire.
The singer-songwriter became emotional when thanking the 2500 fans who turned up and stumbled on his words.
"Just before I go any further I would just like to thank you all for my support ... for your support," Harris said on stage.
"I didn't say it very well, but you know what I mean. Thank you for your support, I will always wear it."
Operation Yewtree was established after a TV documentary aired allegations that former BBC disc jockey Savile, who died in 2011 aged 84, sexually abused countless children.
Police have stressed the allegations against Harris aren't linked to the Savile scandal other than that the Australian "was in the public spotlight at around that time".
So far 13 people have been arrested under Operation Yewtree. Of those two have been charged.

The office of the Prince of Wales has said he had a right and a duty to communicate privately with the government "on any matter he chooses", after the extent of his private meetings with ministers came under renewed questioning.

An analysis of palace records showing that Prince Charles has held private meetings with cabinet ministers at least 36 times since the 2010 general election was seized on by campaigners for a republic who said it showed he was "a political operator and businessman with direct access to government".

Charles has met the prime minister, David Cameron, seven times and in many cases held meetings with ministers who have responsibility for areas in which he has taken a particular interest, according to the Daily Mail.

Following previous coverage by the Guardian of Charles's private meetings with ministers, campaigners for transparency concerned about royal lobbying have called for the government to provide information about the topics discussed as it does after representatives of outside organisations meet ministers.

Details of the meetings with senior political figures in the Westminster and Cardiff governments, including why they were held and what was discussed, have not been made public, in line with a convention of secrecy about communication between both the Queen and the heir to the throne and government ministers.

In a statement, Clarence House said: "The Prince of Wales has a right, indeed it is his duty, to communicate privately with the government on any matter he chooses, to bring his unique perspective and reflect the many issues people raise with him personally on his extensive engagements around the country."

"Given these broad areas of interest, as well as specific events such as the jubilee and Olympics, it is inevitable that HRH may, at times, see some ministers more than others."

Prince Charles's private office said he receives ministers and officials from a broad range of government departments on a regular basis either in office meetings or through initiatives such as the cross-party Campaign for Youth Social Action, which he will lead, or addressing the issue of illegal trade in wildlife.

It added: "Official meetings, sometimes instigated by ministers, are important to the prince in his role as heir to the throne and ministers from successive governments have found that he brings important insights, perspectives and knowledge built over 40 years of experience in a range of areas aimed at transforming lives and building sustainable communities."

However, activists campaigning for an end to the monarchy seized on the figures. The lobby group Republic tweeted: "We've been pushing this issue for some time. Charles is political operator and businessman with direct access to govt."

The high court ruled last month that the public has no right to read documents that would reveal how Charles has sought to alter government policies. Three judges rejected a legal attempt by the Guardian to force the publication of private letters written by the prince to government ministers.

However, Lord Judge, the lord chief justice of England and Wales, and two other judges have given the Guardian permission to appeal against the decision.

The appeal, which is due to be heard in the court of appeal this year, will be the latest stage in an eight-year battle by the newspaper to view a set of letters written by the prince to ministers in seven government departments over a nine-month period.

The cabinet decided that the letters must remain hidden after concluding that they could undermine the public's perception of the prince's political neutrality.

Dominic Grieve, the attorney general, has said that if the letters were published there was a risk that the heir to the throne would be "viewed by others as disagreeing with government policy".
