Perhaps the media are just following the publics opinion??? More people are interested in what Abbott says that what Gillard says???

Lol sorry no thats not the reason. the media actively supports the liberal party for some reason. No idea how they chose since lib and lab about exactly the same. However thats the way it is so the legitimately elected govt doesn't get the airtime.

SOB

Which media???....ABC and Channel 7 certainly don't support the Coalition....I'm not sure about channels 9 and Ten

Of course they do. Who do they interview whenever anything happens? Whenever theres a question? The government? no! the opposition! Who should they ask? Seriously . . . .

An interesting anticdote from yesterday in final cooments on insiders.

Tony went to the central coast wheelie bin manufacturer.
Complaining that his electricity bill will go up 185K.
He was asked by a reporter what his turnover was, answer 85million.
A point 0.217% rise.

Now how much will Tonys PPL put on his bottom line, a 1.5% levy, in other word 7.5 times as much.

Ahh but it's unlikely to say the least that electricity is his only expense.  0.217% rise on electricity, 0.217% rise on raw materials, 0.217% rise on fuel, 0.217% on distribution...it all adds up.

Well there's no CT on fuel for a start, so there's fuel and distribution out of the mix.
Raw materials, well I don't know, wheelie bins are made of plastic, can you enlighten me on what the possible ingredients would be subject to the CT.
And even if we ignore the fact that 2 of the 4 examples are not subject to CT we are still at under 1% .5% behind Tonys tax.

Shouldn't they - whoa out-of-the-box concept! - ask the ppl that know the answers? The government? Like with the carbon tax - who knows more about the policy the government who brought it in or the opposition who just repeats "bad govt bad govt" over and over?

How?
The guy was with Abbott complaing about electricity increases, nothing said about anything else.
His electrity is going up 0.217% of his turnover.
ANY business with a TURNOVER greater than 5mill will be subject to a 1.5% tax.

Whaddaya mean "how"?
Comparing an increase of 0.217% on his electricity bill alone, with 1.5% overall is comparing apples with oranges.  Electricty obviously isn't going to be the only increase, so to adequately compare the 2 plans (both rubbish IMO) at least account for all relevant factors.

Well than you will have to tell us what the other factors may be.
The business owner only cited electricity, as far as I know wheelie bins are made by moulding plastic with heat(hence the electricity cost).
Do you think Tony would have highlighted electricity ONLY if he had other ancillaries to add as well?

I've already corrected your assumption that fuel is subject to the CT, do you think you might have been mislead on other things?

Comparing an increase of 0.217% on his electricity bill alone, with 1.5% overall is comparing apples with oranges.

To some extent? The argument basically for the rise in transport costs etc comes back to the lower level increase - A higher increase business would mean a greater flow on cost as well, not so sure it is really apples and oranges just a different distribution of different fruits.

But then there is additionally - the removal of one the carbon price while still paying the compensation then on top taking the direct action plan out of our taxes as an addition all on top of other promises which all come from out tax dollars and leave many tens of billions if not hundreds of billions in unfunded spending all paid by our  Tax dollars.

With the removal of the carbon price will costs come down or will it just be swallowed up in a pretence with a minor downward trending of prices, it is almost certain that the end result would be the 0.21%  plus 1.5% plus a huge financial black hole in the budget.
