Perhaps the media are just following the publics opinion??? More people are interested in what Abbott says that what Gillard says???

Lol sorry no thats not the reason. the media actively supports the liberal party for some reason. No idea how they chose since lib and lab about exactly the same. However thats the way it is so the legitimately elected govt doesn't get the airtime.
SOB

im sure you believe that. Im sure you remember that howard banned the ALP from using the media sometime back when.

the media policy is made by the ppl in the positions to set the policy. the "slant" is set by the owner I expect. Rebeccah brooks got her orders from murdoch directly so i expect do the ones here. If you have been keeping up with the leveson enquiry you would know this. there is no law against it but imo there should be because the media has far too much power to manipulate the public. Before you start going off remember they can switch sides @ any time.

Lib and lab are the same though. Beats me how they decided which one to back haha.

Most small businesses owners would have more sense than to put up those posters. If any do I will be boycotting them.

News.com.au - Just from Today

Note you will not find anything positive to Labor or anything negative about the Liberals.

This is a policy driven outcome.

Julia Gillard in need is a Green friend indeed (Jemma Jones)

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/opinion/julia-gillard-in-need-is-a-green-f...

NSW Labor's massive broadside against the Greens has left Julia Gillard looking like a general who wasn't told the war had started.

Labors act cant hide the truth (Piers)

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/opinion/piers-akerman-labors-song-and-danc...

Week One of the toxic carbon dioxide tax and the only friends the government can find are those it has paid to come to the party and the Greens…..

It seems that Labor cannot face the truth about the caustic effects of the tax that is itself the subject of
the biggest lie ever told by an Australian politician
during an election campaign to the electorate.

Doomed government applies a full-court press out of spite:

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/opinion/doomed-government-applies-a-full-c...

Fairfax CEO Greg Hywood declined to join the others, claiming News was responsible for creating a problem for the media industry in this country........

This is a government which is led by a capital "L" liar
(see carbon tax), which has lied about

Editorial

LIKE a bad marriage, the relationship between the Labor Party and the Greens has soured to the point of complete dysfunction.

Tax is one thing, rip-offs another

THE introduction of a carbon tax in Australia, as has been noted in many quarters, is problematic to say the least.

It brings an element of complexity and uncertainty into the economy at a time when it is already potentially fragile and there are no guarantees it will even deliver the environmental benefits it is designed to.

Paul Howes: Labor must turn on the Greens and destroy them

Hadley: Time to tell the people smugglers.

Yes but they used the crystal ball method and started first.

The media drive clearly leads the opinion.

An interesting anticdote from yesterday in final cooments on insiders.

Tony went to the central coast wheelie bin manufacturer.
Complaining that his electricity bill will go up 185K.
He was asked by a reporter what his turnover was, answer 85million.
A point 0.217% rise.

Now how much will Tonys PPL put on his bottom line, a 1.5% levy, in other word 7.5 times as much.

Ahh but it's unlikely to say the least that electricity is his only expense.  0.217% rise on electricity, 0.217% rise on raw materials, 0.217% rise on fuel, 0.217% on distribution...it all adds up.

Well there's no CT on fuel for a start, so there's fuel and distribution out of the mix.
Raw materials, well I don't know, wheelie bins are made of plastic, can you enlighten me on what the possible ingredients would be subject to the CT.
And even if we ignore the fact that 2 of the 4 examples are not subject to CT we are still at under 1% .5% behind Tonys tax.

Just saying that comparing 0.217% with 1.5% is misleading.

How?
The guy was with Abbott complaing about electricity increases, nothing said about anything else.
His electrity is going up 0.217% of his turnover.
ANY business with a TURNOVER greater than 5mill will be subject to a 1.5% tax.

Whaddaya mean "how"?
Comparing an increase of 0.217% on his electricity bill alone, with 1.5% overall is comparing apples with oranges.  Electricty obviously isn't going to be the only increase, so to adequately compare the 2 plans (both rubbish IMO) at least account for all relevant factors.

Well than you will have to tell us what the other factors may be.
The business owner only cited electricity, as far as I know wheelie bins are made by moulding plastic with heat(hence the electricity cost).
Do you think Tony would have highlighted electricity ONLY if he had other ancillaries to add as well?

I've already corrected your assumption that fuel is subject to the CT, do you think you might have been mislead on other things?

What you are insisting on, is that No other expenses are going to rise.  You're relying on all of his suppliers not being affected by the tax at all.

What about the people who make the spare parts for his machinery?  Pretty sure they use electricity too.  Electricity thats going to rise in cost, and be passed on in price rises for the parts he needs to stay operating.

What about the people that make the resin he uses to mould the bins?  What makes you sure that they don't use electricity, and so won't have increased costs to pass down the chain too?

And of course, whether one aspect is not "officially" affected or not, lets say fuel, doesn't guarantee that the company will not put in a sneaky price rise to attribute to the carbon tax anyway.  Distribution companies have premises that require electricity too.  So just because fuel isn't affected, doesn't mean the company isn't affected at all.

Far out - theres a lot more to it than just saying "hey 1.5% is a bigger number than 0.217%. case closed." Though that is just the the sort of superficial "analysis" whoever uttered the statement was relying on Joe Citizen to make.

It's amazing how much power and influence Tony Abbott has. You'd be forgiven for mistaking him for PM - given so much he's apparently responsible for.

Didn't the woman on stage at the aboriginal rally in Canberra that turned into a near riot forcing Gillard and Abbott to flee refer to Abbott as PM? I'm sure she said "Prime Minister Abbott".

If Abbott is for encouraging price rises while the Liberals are in opposition, what will they do for ordinary people when they have real power?

He's made clear this week that the Liberals stand for damaging therelationships with Indonesia. His racist anti-foreigner stance will further damage Australia's international standing, encouraging attacks on 'otherness' in Australia and damaging the economies third biggest income earner education. He will scrap carbon emissions trading scheme, bringing uncertainty to those looking at investing in Australia.

An Abbott led government will be disasterous to Australias short and long term prosperity and race relations within the community. He's a coward and dinosaur.

Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is pressing Australian companies to invest more in its domestic cattle industry as part of a plan to resolve the live cattle export tensions left over from last year, which simmered throughout this week’s annual leaders’ summit.

Dr Yudhoyono stepped up the pressure in three speeches during the summit in a clear warning that Indonesia will not accept a return to trade based mainly on Australian cattle exports after last year’s ban.

http://afr.com/p/national/indonesia_seeks_direct_beef_investment_BIzcJLTHEsZc8by...

Australian beef producers are in talks with Indonesia to change their laws, in order to give foreign investors greater security. They want to invest not only in Indonesian abbatoirs, but also in feed lots. Creating strong ties in the worlds biggest muslim nation will give greater access not only to Asia but also the entire Muslim world.

Abbotts 'like it or lump it' attitude to Indonesia is going to help how?
