In the worlds big cities where people spend most of their time locked up in traffic jambs on small trips electric cars will find their footing.
From this and the rising price and  scarcity of fossil fuels new technology will develop so within a few decades we will have electric vehicles that travel far greater distances and systems of recharging and battery swapping that make the general use of these vehicles more widely accepted.

It's good that someone else can see the benefit of such cars.

Basically it's a conspiracy by oil companies to keep their profits
with gas guzzling cars.

The GM Volt is a hybrid you idiot. You obviously missed the point that it can also be plugged into the wall !!

And you call wasting fuel in stop start traffic a great idea !!

And wasting energy during braking by heating up brake rotors and pads instead of capturing that energy back into the system. That's a great idea as well Cheesy LOL

And NISSAN has got it wrong with their all electric leaf. Cheesy LOL

You really are useless. The constant accusations of others being socks really says something about your inability to debate.

But what really shows your lack of debating skills is your inability to follow a discussion. The Holden volt will cost about $60,000. That's what I called overpriced, and that was the car my post was speaking about. So what do you do? You highlight my overpriced comment, and then go on a tangent about electric cars for $20,000.

Can you not follow a discussion at all? You seem to be as bad as lastnail, who brought the Holden volt into the discussion in the first place, completely out of context to the earlier posts of garage jobs. The whole thread has become a circle of constant changing goal post.

You really don't know anything. The volt is marketed on the great idea that it has no mechanical connection between the engine and wheels like a current hybrid (which is not actually true but that's the selling point). GM have doen eveythng to avoide having the term hybrid associated with this car.

It is an inferior design to a real hybrid, sold to idiots like you who don't understand even the most basic laws of the universe. Converting energy from;

Chemical>kinetic>electrical>chemical>electrical>kinetic

Is far worse than going

Chemical>kinetic , which is combined with, chemical>electrical>kinetic, that has come from scavenged kinetic energy.

That's why the Prius is far better in the real world than the volt. The volt is a scam that anyone who knows anything about cars has already figured out. A plug in hybrid (A Prius type hybrid, not this Volt you know nothing about that is not a true hybrid) is the best option we have today to meet everyone's needs.

Exactly. Electric cars are the future and I look forward to it.

My only arguement is that this day is not here yet. Unfortunately, saying that it will take time on this forum gets accusations of being bought off by oil companies and having an excuss mentality.

So how much were flat screen TV's when they first came out and how much are they now ?? According to your brain dead argument nobody should ever have made flat screen TV's because they were so much dearer than existing CRT technology at the time !

Can you tell me why the GM Volt should be 60K when the Toyota Hybrid Camry sells for around 30K ??

Have you ever heard of economies of scale ?? Obviously not !!

They are doing it idiot !! Even Warren Buffet has invested 300 mill into a chinese electric/hybrid car manufacturer. He certainly didn't come here and invest it in Holden and Ford Sad Look up BYD cars and you'll find plenty of information.

And you obviously dodn't read or watch the 7:30 report on the E-commodore that was designed for Holden by CSIRO in early 2000 and subsequently snubbed by Holden. Of course Holden can't make an electric car in a few months now but they had plenty of time to do it. They had a whole decade to get their act together but their arrogance and control from HQ in the US kept them making obsolete rubbish like the Hummer that gets 3 miles to the gallon if you are lucky. They obviously employ idiots like you in their markeing department.

China are making 10's of millions of electric cars for under $20,000 today are they? Since I'm an idiot for knowing this it must be common knowledge. Got in proof of these 10's of millions of electric cars for under $20,000 that china are currently making? Not cars over $20,000; or only sold in low numbers; or are hybrids. Where is the proof of china making 10's of millions of electric cars for under $20,000 right now today?

The argument of this thread is that Holden and ford should be making fully electric cars because it can be done cheaply, easily, and will increase their sales now. They don't do it because they are too dumb aparently. Now your saying china are selling cheap, fully electric cars, and are obviously selling in huge volumes. If not, how do you expect Holden and Ford to do it?

By the way, didn't know Holden made Hummers under orders by GM. What a blessing to this forum to have someone of your knowledge of the auto world.

As for the electric Holden, I have seen it in the flesh when it was new. But if I got all my information from short reports on TV, maybe I would know as much as you and would have all the answers to the world's problems.
