Haven't been on here much, the financial crisis we all are experiencing has put a fair bit of pressure on my workload!

Anyway, Lastnail I am trading in my car and wonder if you want to buy it?
A 5.3 liter V8 GM Tahoe?

I am probably getting similar model from GMC but not decided yet.

Peak oil predicted we would run out of oil in 1983.

We are halfway through 2012 now....

I believe longweekend lives in Adelaide? (I think I saw him say that once) I live in Sydney. I am happy for any moderator to check my ISP.

These continuous accusations of socks makes this forum look like it is full of paranoid retards. So far I have been acused of being matty, freediver, and longweekend.

Could it be that there is more than one person that thinks your a self appointed know it all fool? Would it be so shattering to your world view to find out that there are many people who disagree with you that you have to pretend they are all the same person?

I don't care who the bugger you are. Your argument is the same as madweekend's and that if an EV doesn't suit his or your ridiculous needs then nobody else should have one. Like I have said to him many times before is to bring his gas guzzling ford piece of sh,t to melbourne and drive it in melborne peak hour traffic each day for a month which is what most working people do. Lets see how much juice you have left in the tank at the end of the week Wink

Whatever EV technology is presented to you will always find a fault with it and tell everyone that it is not ready yet so they have to wait another 10 years before they can have it. That attitude spells aussie low achieving wanker !!

If you believe that your an idiot. The only person forcing anything on anyone is you. You keep making these stupid comments about people driving gas guzzlers and being bought off by oil companies for not running out and buying an electric car. You want ford and Holden to stop everything and start making electric cars when there is nothing stopping them from selling electric cars produced by the parents companies, which is what we are starting to see happen already.

If you want an electric car, go buy one. No one is stopping you. Buy if you don't have one, and your still driving a "gas guzzler", then why should everyone drop everything and accommodate your stupid vision? Put your money where your mouth is!

Maybe that's not a bad bet. He drives his petrol car to your city and drives around for a few hours and then drives home. You drive your electic car (surely you already have one, right?) to his home city, drive around for a few hours and then drive home. He can show you his petrol reciet and any money spent on food and accommodation, and then you can do the same. Let's see who gets home first and who has the bigger bill...

Im willing. I can drive there and back in a day. Im guessing his EV will take about 10 days.  My fuel bill will probably be $500. His will be about $50. But my accomodation bill will be zero while his will be at least $1500. and food. and of course the 10 days of lost earnings...

in short. I win.

Hi Nail,
We caught Longweekend out using another name - Quantum Grin

he's done that before probably because he can't get anyone else to back him up Cheesy LOL

I sort of figured it was him as soon as he started using that stupid argument he always uses of something not being here today so it can't be here in the future Cheesy LOL

No one has made that argument. The only argument I have made is that it is not here today, but we will get there in the future.

You as a typical uneducated leftwing environmental extremist want to eat your cake before it has even been put in the oven. You get told its not ready yet, but it will be soon. But that's not good enough. Now your having a tantrum. The toys are flying everywhere because you just can't wait. People are trying to explain it to you that now is not the time. But you think they are all in a conspiracy to deprive you of your cake. You just won't listen that you can have the cake, but not until it is ready.

Electric cars are the future. They are slowly coming. But they are not ready to replace petrol cars yet. Hybrids are growing in sales and coming down in price, but full electric is still years to go. It will get here, but learn to wait!

I never said that EV's had to replace anything. However if you are stupid enough to keep wanting to take it up the arse at the fool bowser then you are quite welcome to but don't tell us that we have to wait until EV's meet your stupid requirments before we can have one.

can you even read? you complain about petrol prices (not gas prices you imbecile!) abd then demand EVs. as Quantum said, all you are doing is throwing a toddler-type tantrum because you cant get your own way. I want a personal jetpack. We should already have them but Im not trhowing a tantrum about it.

child.

TOENAIL... WHERE IS YOUR EV?

Who drives from one capital city to another just to go to work ??  Smiley

Come to melbourne and see what it is like to drive to work  each day and then check what's left in the tank at the end of the week or day !! It costs a fortune to drive a gas guzzler in stop start traffic but somehow in your small mind you can rationalize that as an imaginary cost !!

If you need long range that is exactly what the GM Volt does. If you only do short commutes which is what 80% of people do then you can run the GM Volt purely on battery and not spend a cent on fool.

But of course as soon as it's a car that uses an electric drive train then you have 101 brain dead reasons why it's no good for anyone.

So I guess you HAVENT bought and EV yet. Do you have any idea how silly that makes you sound?  All of your raving about the superiority of EVs yet you wont buy one. And you cant complain that they arent available because they are. The only POSSIBLE conclusion is that you think like the rest of us that the current EVs are pretty useless. So why not come out and say it?

LAST NAIL THINKS THAT CURRENT EVS ARE NO GOOD AND NOT WORTH BUYING.

Because I don't need another car at the moment but hopefully when I need to upgrade there will be plenty of EV's and hybrids to choose from and at competitive prices Wink

As I said, I live in Sydney. No need to go to Melbourne to sit in traffic.

But let's try your theory. Let's say it cost me $100 a week to drive my "gas guzzler" (A bit steep, and a lot more than what I actually do pay, but let's give you the benefit here). The Volt is not free to run as you still pay for power and some petrol as well (But let's just say it is free).

Assuming I just bought an equivalant size car to the volt, how many years do I have to drive to start saving money with the Volt?
