Because my next post was 1 minute after that in response to the first post you made.

That website is some blokes letter posted in 98 on the net (but written years before) about his own private testing of regenerative braking. So someone did a test in the early 90's and that shows brushed motors don't work. Get real.

It's obvious you don't want to discuss this for real. The constant accusations of being a sock shows your maturity level, and many of your misinformed comments show that you know nothing about the auto industry (the fact you think nails knows what he is talking about is proof of that).

[Either do you! That's the joke of this thread. The person who calls others fools for driving petrol cars, yet drives one himself. The person who says no one wants petrol cars and wants to buy electric, yet won't buy one himself.

As alway you keep changing the subject when it suits you. One minute your talking about full electic cars, but when it gets pointed out that they don't have the range you start talking about the Volt or hybrids. When it gets pointed out they have an engine and need to be serviced like a normal car, you switch back to talking about EV's. It's transparent that you are just avoiding reality.

yes I drive a fossil fool car. When did people ever have any other choice other than to buy something that was completely unreliable and expensive to run and maintain as all fossil fool vehicles are ?? Just because I own one doesn't mean I don't understand its limitations !!

Having repaired my own cars over the years I will be glad when EV's make their mark and the scammers who have profitted for so long out of selling and fitting parts that purposely wear out are finally dead and buried !!

Anyone in the know, knows that auto manufacturers make a huge chunk of their revenue out of parts and service and that is why they have been so reluctant to build something reliable like an EV that barely requires any service or maintenance !!

And the GM Volt is essentially an electric car with a range extender. It's purpose is to shut people up like you who bitch and moan about the limited range of battery electric cars. As well Ford US is currently working on all three types including battery electric cars, plugin hybrid cars and hybrid cars. What is Ford Australia working on ?? Have you heard ?? They are working on a 4 cylinder Ford Falcon Cheesy LOL

Everything that wears out on a normal car will wear out on an EV (such as tyres, paint, door rubbers, etc) except for the engine. Today's petrol engines regularly outlast the rest of the car, so don't expect unlimited km in your new EV.

I find it interesting that you think that today's companies make petrol cars to break, but will make EV's to last forever. Are these companies evil money squeezers or good guys?

Also, why didn't you buy a Honda insight or Prius? They came out over a decade ago, so why did you buy a fools petrol car? Or are you still driving a car made in the 90's, in which case you care nothing for the environment (even an old 4 cylinder is more pollutive than a new V8), or you would never have the money for an EV anyway.

door rubbers and paint !! get the bugger out of here will you.

who replaces their door rubbers ??

are these regular service items ??

just look at that long list I gave you and see what little you will have to do on an EV Wink

who cares about brush motors when brushless AC synchronous 3 phase motors are available and the electronic drive technology is well matured !!

Can you not read? I was saying that on today's car the last thing to go is the engine. The entire car will fall apart before an engine wears out these days. Therefore it doesn't matter how reliable an EV is because the rest of the car will be made to the same quality as a petrol car today. Are you really that thick?

what are you talking about ??

try running your car without an oil change and then see how long it lasts !!

EV's don't require oil changes among many of the other things that fossil fool cars require !!

you're the one who is thick !! Obviously never serviced your own car before !!

Unreal. Now I don't know how to service a car despite having done 1000's of them in the past.

Even more unreal is you comparing the reliability of an EV car against a petrol car that is not having its oil changed. Are you that disparate?

I give up. Its like explaining that 2+2=4, but being constantly told that you're an idiot because 2+2=5 and you have been brainwashed and bought off by calculator manufactures. No matter how much it is explained the conversation just goes in circles.

I'm off. You can gloat and pat yourself on the back that you have shown me up to be a fool and that your so smart etc etc. Keep telling yourself that you know everything about cars and those who are professionals in the auto world are all idiots who wouldnt know a wheel from a windscreen wiper. If only you where in charge of the auto world we would all have electic cars that can drive from Syndey to Perth on one charge and have enough power left to boil the kettle.

Some of us have jobs and this thread is too big of a joke to waist time on.

So ICE cars don't need oil changes ??

All of your posts just prove that you are an ignoramus. I just gave you a long list of service and maintenance items that are neccessary for a fossil fool car but are not needed for an EV. You can check any service book on any modern car and all of those items will be on the list somewhere and some will be regular service items that have to be checked every 6 months or 10,000k's and at considerable cost to the owners !!

If you choose to ignore that list or service book at expense of reliability and believe that ICE cars need very little service and maintenance and try and parrot the similarities between EV's and ICE cars then there is only one word for you and that is DELUSIONAL !!

You sound like a lot of people who have profitted out of the existing auto industry and are somehow trying to convince yourself that EV's are not going to be threat to your livelihood. Suck it up because they are !!

an in that entire 5 years you have never made an intelligent contribution. in those same 5 yearas your mater losernail continues to drive a petrol car and refuses to buy an EV because even he realises the things are no good for anything beyond an average commute. you both abuse people and then make idioticly stupid posts revelaing your total ignorance. lastnail has even claimed to be 'australias leading expert on EVs' while he hasnt even driven one yet- never mind owned one. he knows almost nothing of the economics of Electric Vehicles and even less about the techology. QUANTITY of posting is not the same as QUALITY, which clearly you dont understand

Suck it up because they are !!

the trouble is that quantum didnt say that at all but you seem incapable of understanding what other people actually say. if someone isnt 100% agreeing with you, you then reinterpret/misinterpret their words so that it says what you WANT them to say rather than what they are actually saying. you interpret everyones positions in an extreme way. if they dont agree with you 100% then they 'hate EVs, are 'paid off by oil companies' etc etc blah blah blah. And in the end, most of us will own EVs long before you because once they become affordable and viable we will get them while you will just be complaining about petrol cars still.

You are the class loser.
