Good question but there is no doubt that the major oil fields are well in decline.
Notwithstanding what Prevailing come up with, it is correct that the old & largest of the Oil fields are now in what is correctly called the Depletion stage, which simply means that those fields have Peaked, in terms of Production!
As the oldest & largest fields have Peaked, the total Global Supply therefore is reliant on the newer fields, but these newer fields are smaller in size & Production AND they more expensive in Price, as they are more difficult to access OR they involve much more processing, as they are of a lower grade.
Also, the other alternatives, such as Tar Sands, involve a great deal of processing & are barely Energy Positive, when looked at on an EROEI (Energy Return On Energy Invested) basis.
Hi Perceptions,
Well - we have to do something.
We can't burn up in a few hundred years what nature took 100's of millions of years to make - oil, gas & coal.
It will definetly change our atmosphere with possible catastrophic consequences.
The electric car with it's energy source being solar cells is one answer which looks very promising.
Solar cells on the roof of your house putting energy into the grid during the day -
charging up the car at night from the grid.
This removes the need for expensive storage batteries at home.
I can't understand why
Nail has been pilloried from pillar to post for
years by self proclaimed "
