Nor can these new sources ever hope to garner the sort of Productions levels achieved via "Conventional" Oil, it is simply not possible!

Finally, I do agree with your following comment -

You cannot have a discussion on peak oil if you simply and obstinately refuse to accept any changes

Which is exactly what YOU consistently do!

You can't do that in an economical way - it requires a hybrid vehicle which is too expensive.
Fortunately - most people just makes short trips for 99% of the time
so an all electric vehicle is the answer.
Maybe they could keep their old petrol car for long trips?

The GM Volt is probably a good compromise at the moment. It is a plugin generator driven hybrid car. It does 40 miles on battery alone and can equal a petrol car in distance if need be. Also the ICE could be made to run off other fuels such as ethanol or gas etc. Most of the time people will be commuting on electric power only and charging it up at night but if they need that extra distance the capacity is there.

Alternatively there is the battery switch and go technology from Better Place and renault. That seems to be promising.

Its funny how the suppression of alternative fueled cars is similar to the oppression of the Palestinian people.
The biggest parallel comes from Avrams opinion on both.

It's not a matter of being practical.
We can't just keep burning fossil fuels forever.
We'll destroy the world.

Instead of trading in your old petrol car & getting nearly nothing for it -
you keep it & buy a battery car.

99% of the time that's all you'll need.

The Toyota made cars www.Toyota.co.il are economic and best environment.
This is why I say to freediver that carbon tax is not necessary this is all from Government R&D grant and private enterprise.

BUT
Electric cars are still much more expensive for families.
