Yeah. Okay. So its a top secret intelligence organisation. In fact he said its one of their main things to remain secret. So why hold a press conference?

Why now? Why out this thing now? Why tell us now?

He's not the brightest light on the tree our SOB. he often does this kind of thing. Writes a few sentences on something has seen (ro worse something he 'remembers') and throws it down with no context.

Just because it's secret doesn't mean someone can't talk about it.  What was he saying anyway?

Mostly he went on about how secret they were. How they spy on other countries and can use weapons to protect each other but not to get information.

That was actually quite interesting.  Wouldn't just about every country have some such organisation though, and wouldn't all such organisations operate fairly secretively out of necessity?  So what's the big deal about the address then?  It was the historical background, an overview of ASIS as it is today and some brief accounts of what ASIS has done in the past.  I don't think that he would have given away any national secrets, as this information was already out there anyway.

Well the big deal imo is that he outed them. Had a media conference and gave that speech. You would think that was contrary to thier directives.

Yeah i think every country has them. I thought ASIO was ours.

I read that their major concern is apparently WMD's.
Now if that isn't the biggest load of crap you ever heard....

Only you would believe that the fact that ASIS exists would be considered secret. What did you think they were the Aussie MiB.  Grin

You would do well to learn to use google, that way you would have a modicum of basic knowledge before you post.

BTW, ASIO is our internal spy agency and ASIS is our external agency; see how google would have answered that for you

Intelligence is 90% of the battle against terrorism.
It is very hard to win the war with conventional military.

Much more should be spent on intelligence and more power given to these services to protect the state.
