I did answer the question.
I said: Everyone who seeks asylum.

Why is the number relevant?

You would accept EVERYONE?????

Yes - exactly right.

Good thing that fulfilling Australia's legal obligation to provide asylum to those who seek it does not conflict with the rights of Australian citizens or their right to defend themselves.

If only we could get the xenophobes and racists to understand this.

I suggested that Australia should provide an alternative form of transport for everyone that was risking their lives in boats.

That is what the Libs say they want.  That is what Labor say they want.  To stop people dying in boats.  Well the simple solution is to have regular flights from Indosesia bringing asylum seekers to Australia and have their claims processed.  That way they will not risk there lives in boats.

Problem solved.  Libs are happy.  Labor is happy.

What is the problem?

Because i think you are setting a dangerous solution which will see refugee claims to australia increase when you want to see it go the other way.

No. Our official, policy is to accept a certain amount of refugees,. In fact the government is considering putting that number up.
