Slipper and Ashby in Sydney courts.

The Peter Slipper, James Ashby sexual harassment case is back before the courts in Sydney today.

Lawyers for the embattled speaker will make an application to have the matter dismissed, claiming Mr Ashby's case is vexatious and intended to destroy or damage Mr Slipper's reputation and political career.

However the move is expected to be challenged by Mr Ashby's legal representation.

Today's court proceedings come after Friday's Federal Court ruling allowing text messages sent between Mr Slipper and Mr Ashby, former federal minister Mal Brough, News Limited journalist Steve Lewis and fellow staffer Karen Doane to be used as evidence.
