But you will cry if they are sent to Malaysia because it is so unfair.

Not if the Government makes it clear it is relocating illegal immigrants and removes our signature from any international treaties which might prohibit that.  The pacific solution is clean, the only way to make the Malaysia solution clean is to withdraw from the UNHCR Convention.  Just do it. Cool

Sorry...I forgot, the Malaysia solution is a people swap deal - unacceptable.  No solution which forces Australia into a position of having to accept any form of immigration is acceptable.  Our borders must be defended, not bartered for. Cool

'Damaged' asylum boat found by Indonesian search vessels

INDONESIAN authorities have found a boat carrying about 60 asylum-seekers that had broken down and started taking on water while on its way to Australia.

The boat was found adrift in waters between Bali and Java this morning by the Indonesian search and rescue agency Basarnas.

Those on board, believed to be Iraqis and Iranians, told authorities they had been drifting for three days with engine trouble.

“We located them this morning at 5am near Madura Island in the Bali Sea,” said Surabaya Basarnas chief Sutrisno.

The boat issued a distress call last night but a search for the vessel was initially called off because of poor light.

Those aboard the boat also contacted the ABC overnight, saying they wanted to go to Australia and expressing concern that Indonesian search and rescue authorities were trying to locate them.

“We found them in a damaged boat,” Sutrisno said.

“We're going to take them to Surabaya so that immigration officials can deal with them.”

One passenger told the ABC that the boat was taking on water.

“The pump doesn't work. The water is coming in the boat,” one passenger said.

In another call, the ABC said had contacted Indonesian search and rescue authorities.

“Why?” one passenger said.

“I come to Australia. No, no, no.”

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority was alerted to the emergency just after midnight but Basarnas officials rejected offers of assistance.

And we were told it was not possible.

It has always been possible
for sinking boats in Indonesian waters to be rescued by Indonesia.

Maybe, but they are very good at crying poor and saying they don't have enough naval vessels to patrol all of Indonesia's islands.

Do you think that Australia could patrol all of our waters?

Australia doesn't need to patrol all of it's waters.
The threat lies in the north and west only.
