We are not talking about a war, just defending our territorial security - you do not have to declare war to defend yourself against aggression. Tongue

'Damaged' asylum boat found by Indonesian search vessels

INDONESIAN authorities have found a boat carrying about 60 asylum-seekers that had broken down and started taking on water while on its way to Australia.

The boat was found adrift in waters between Bali and Java this morning by the Indonesian search and rescue agency Basarnas.

Those on board, believed to be Iraqis and Iranians, told authorities they had been drifting for three days with engine trouble.

“We located them this morning at 5am near Madura Island in the Bali Sea,” said Surabaya Basarnas chief Sutrisno.

The boat issued a distress call last night but a search for the vessel was initially called off because of poor light.

Those aboard the boat also contacted the ABC overnight, saying they wanted to go to Australia and expressing concern that Indonesian search and rescue authorities were trying to locate them.

“We found them in a damaged boat,” Sutrisno said.

“We're going to take them to Surabaya so that immigration officials can deal with them.”

One passenger told the ABC that the boat was taking on water.

“The pump doesn't work. The water is coming in the boat,” one passenger said.

In another call, the ABC said had contacted Indonesian search and rescue authorities.

“Why?” one passenger said.

“I come to Australia. No, no, no.”

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority was alerted to the emergency just after midnight but Basarnas officials rejected offers of assistance.

And we were told it was not possible.

Back you go monkeybums. Smiley

Back who goes? the boat was found by the Indonesians in Indonesian waters .... nobody went back anywhere, they were already there ... this has absolutely nothing to do with turning back boats .....

do you people have comprehension problems?

What, you think the Indon's are going to put these monkeybums up at the Jakarta Hilton and send government cheques to the door?
You really think there not going anywhere?
Think again.

Regional Ports from which illegal people smuggling operations take place that breach Australian security are legitimate military targets that can be hit.  Countries in the region must be held responsible for human movement activities thought their country to ours.  They have to close down the smuggling activity or we can do it.  People smuggling is a dire regional security threat... Cool Cool

How many were drowned during the rescue operation? Was it 20? Perhaps 36? Please don't be mean and share your information with us. Please inform the debate.
