We are not talking about a war, just defending our territorial security - you do not have to declare war to defend yourself against aggression. Tongue

you're a nut mate: good luck selling your bullshite!!

  Cheesy Cheesy

You are pissing on the grave of every digger that defended this countries borders against the Japanese and drove them back to Tokyo - you are the nut, of course we can defend our country - the age of entitlement to country shop without due process is over... Smiley Smiley

What you call 'defense' is not what I call 'defense'.

So, I say again, good luck selling your bullshite!!  Wink Wink

Self defense is not being a warmonger. starting wars for corporations like you do for oil in far off lands is being a warmonger - I have no interest in a war with countries that pose no security or border risk to Australia...In fact war is the lat thing I want - self defense is the only reason to justify it...we have a legal right to defend ourselves against external pressures...its a constitutional right... Cool Cool

What makes you think we do not have the legal right to border and economic security and freedom from external pressure & aggression?

"Why should people on the Left, and I'll remind people that is the side of politics from whence I came, say that we should never intervene militarily?
I mean I can't understand why people would ever say that - we are talking here about countries in which the people are brutally repressed. This was the case in Afghanistan and it was the case in Iraq, don't tell me it wasn't.

The way we should look at it, is that it is our right and our duty to spread democracy and freedom. Why?
Because it is states that are repressed, that are dictatorial, that give their people no freedom, that don't allow them to exercise their democratic rights that in my experience and judgement are exactly the states which threaten and end up invading their neighbours.

Look no further than Saddam Hussein's Iraq."

Its not our right to spread anything - its our right to defend ourselves.  Australia has no legal right to wage war to spread "democracy"...that right doesn't exist and no war for this cause is legal or legitimate.  You must be defending your own security from aggression to legitimately defend yourself and wage war under Australian and international law...
