While there's something to what you say Yadda that's completely wrong. US support for unsavory rebels, muslim or otherwise, is a constant factor of their foreign policy in every continent and era. It was born out of the desire to whittle away at Britains influence and has become the doctrine of 'that's the way it's always been done around here'.
