Well. They dont want my money. Not online anyway. I made an order worth about 1700 and all went fine - no error messages or anything then next morning there was an email saying my order was rejected unless i provide them with 2 types of ID proving I live where I say i live. They wanted a drivers license (I dont have one) and/or an electricity bill (its not on my name). In fact theres only 1 thing in my name here and for that i dont get paper bills. Thing is i dont have a scanner either. WTF?

Why should i have to go through that? Why scan documents and send them to JB hifi? Ebay lets me keep 5 addresses and i pick which one i want stuff delivered to this time (so i can xmas shop from there). No wonder aussie businesses are having problems if they are doing this. I havent tried to buy anything else from anywhere else australian except techbuy. Ebay it is. Or the UK - I have good luck with them. They are pleasant and if theres a problem they resolve it.

Yeah. To add insult to injury when i cancelled the order (like i had a choice) they sent me another email blaming it all on me and saying i agreed to this crap in the terms of service. I tell you what they need to fix up their act or they arent going to have any customers @ all. Who wants to go through all that crap? If you go in a shop you dont have to show id to buy a bluray player why should you have to show it online? My credit card or paypal account should be enough - i had to go through all kinds of poo to get those.

Just for some perspective - i shop @ another aussie business that is online and have been with them for over 10 years. They have never put me through this crap and dont care what address I get stuff delivered to. I would have bought it from them if they had had the model i wanted.

Seriously the worst thing they did after all the crap is to write to me after its all over telling me its my fault and driving me (as a customer) away from their business forever. Might even sell my shares.

If they make it one big hassle to buy their products online, I would go elsewhere. ID, what the hell? I buy most things online and I've never been asked for ID.

The miracle of the modern age JB Hi Fi's shops look like a dogs breakfast; it seems like half their staff have ingested something funny before coming to 'work'.

And they are going  gangbusters...what a joke.

If you spend even less than $1700 in most shops they will ask for ID.

Credit card fraud is a massive issue, esspically on line. If business don't check these things and people get their cards cleaned out they would be the first to complain that the company didn't take enough precautions.

Based on the things you say on this forum it would be an obvious conclusion that your unemployed. So where is all this money coming form to have spent more than $1700 plenty of times?

JB usually ask for Id on large amounts in shop. Most shops will ask for proof when spending a large sum. Checking that the address matches the credit car is part of checking that everything in fine. When ordering on line JB will normally ask for ID at time of delivery.

Either you;
*Have a bad credit history.
*Have a record of claiming non delivery, hence why the shop is going to extra measures.
*This is a "I had this experience" story, which is code for "I am making crap up because it gives me something to whine about".

rubbish ... the fact that he is ordering the goods online means they actually can take the time to check that the card is valid ..delay delivery for 24 hrs ... whereas shops cannot / don't do that, and I've NEVER been asked for ID.

How much does a laptop cost? Usually more than 1.5k - never been asked for id when buying one. Bought my TV @ JB - nope no id needed.

With registered post yeah even ebay does that. It doesnt require a friggin scanner. OR proof of address!

What the bugger does credit history have to do with buying something? Not like I was getting credit. And no i don't have a bad credit history. Nor a record of claiming non delivery. What is your basis for making these claims?

I've never been asked for ID when I've purchased anything online.  I did once get a phone call from the bank (which bank?) when I ordered something that cost almost $2,000 but they only wanted to check if I had made the transaction because, up until that point, I had only used my card for small purchases.

Since your the only one who seems to have this problem, why not assume that you are the problem?

Credit history is an issue if your buying a phone, data laptop/tablet, Internet. Anything with a contract. All these things can be bought from jbhi. You never said what you were buying, so how can anyone know if they wanted extra proof because of this?

It should be fairly obvious why people would think your unemployed. By your own admission you have almost no proof of where you live, no bills, no license. Your always complaining about centrelink payments, unemployed people unable to get a job extra. You seem to be an expert on unemployment so why not suspect it? (and of course there is your ability to not only post on this forum more in a day than many people do in a month, buy you're also members of other forums, and even run your own. Lots of free time usually suggest something...)

If you spend even less than $1700 in most shops they will ask for ID.

Credit card fraud is a massive issue, esspically on line. If business don't check these things and people get their cards cleaned out they would be the first to complain that the company didn't take enough precautions.

Bullshit. I have spent way more than that plenty of times in shops and never been asked for ID.

Besides they werent asking me to verify the friggin credit card they were hassling me about my address!

Either you;
*Have a bad credit history.
*Have a record of claiming non delivery, hence why the shop is going to extra measures.
*This is a "I had this experience" story, which is code for "I am making crap up because it gives me something to whine about".

What things could i possibly have said that lead you to conclude that i am unemployed? lol thats a pretty idiotic assumption.

Wow you really are a dickwad. Are you soren or friyay? You are either a sock or you are drawing on your own experiences with bad credit etc.

SOB

Credit history has nothing to do with making a purchase unless you are getting credit for said purchase. Besides they didnt do a credit check.

Are all the bills in your household in your name? If so then the ppl in your household who the bills are not in the name of shouldn't be able to buy anything?

What is your point BTW? Are you just trying to annoy me or is there a point in there?

Oh and BTW what are you doing here during the day on a monday?

Hangon a minute - i am an expert on the dole? you have me confused with someone else. Either apologise or back up your claims.
