I dont see what the problem is. Free speech is free, not controled by some gay rights activist.

Gays do not have the high road on marriage. Anyone can give support to groups that are anti-gay marriage. Just dont go there.

Gays can have their own type of marriage, not the traditional marriage which is linked between a man and a woman and the purposes of creation.

Chick fil a serve gay people. That is all we need to know.

Well they have sunk millions into an anti-gay campaign apparently. I dont see how it got out into the media causing the fuss. Im sure lots of groups do it all the time but suddenly they are all over the news in america.

As for gay marriage theres no reasonable reason why gays shouldn't get married.

The western world has gone mad.

That a company could be drggaed through so much poo for simply opposing an idea that has never existed in any way, shape or form until just recently boggles the mind.

I doubt anybody has raised even a whimper about these companies who took the opposite stance.  And why would they?

The gay community started a boycott of the stores on the basis that the owner gave money to a group that supported and promoted traditional marriage. It's his money he can do what he likes with it. If he chose to give it to gay groups that would be his right. That said, this has resulted in more support than loss of trade.

Yeah but why? Why is it even news? Who found out about it and how and why did they publicise it? Was it themselves making an announcement?

It started with an interview -

"We are very much supportive of the family – the biblical definition of the family unit," Dan Cathy, Truett’s son, said in an interview last month. "We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that."

The comments sparked a tsunami of criticism from gay rights advocates and their allies, with a same-sex kiss day at Chick-fil-A restaurants nationwide scheduled for Friday. (Supporters rallied around the chain Wednesday, with an event dubbed Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day.)

He stated what he supported, I don't see the problem with that.

Neither do i really - i wonder though - how did the money they give to lobby groups get out? Its just that it smells like politics to me.

It's not a secret society. It is obviously something they do not feel the need to hide...nor should they. Should gay groups only get funding in secret...no. The gay lobby picked a fight over what they saw as a slight on them by the support of something that was at odds with their goals and there was a reaction, as far as I can tell, spontaneously, against that. Sometimes these things happen. The only politics involved was that brought to bear by the gay community, and it didn't come off.
