How many will die in NSW, Barry?
Aug 6th, 2012 at 8:40am

In 2009, the Philadelphia Fire Dept began rolling fire station closures to save money. So if someone was off on leave, rather than bring a firefighter in on overtime, that station would close for the rest of the day.

Sound familiar? It should, because it's exactly what the NSW State Govt are planning to do here.

The outcome, inevitably, is that it will take longer for a fire truck to arrive at the fire/accident/chemical-spillage should it occur in one of the areas where the station has been closed.

With ~8 Sydney fire stations closed each day to save money, and another ~8 off-line while undergoing training, what could possibly go wrong?

http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2011/02/23/firefighter-union-offical-questions-...

Two children were killed in a fire in the city’s Olney section Tuesday, and now an official from the firefighters’ union is questioning if Philadelphia’s cost-cutting “brownouts” of fire companies played a role.

A 7-year-old and a 9-year-old were pulled from the row home on the 100 block of Sparks Street once firefighters were able to knock down the flames.

The engine that would have been first on the scene, Engine 61, was browned-out, or closed for the day, as part of the city’s cost-cutting measures.

Let me guess; you're concerned with human life. Where is your protest about this:

Quote:
Joan Kirner, whom Ms Gillard has described as a mentor and friend, was one of the driving forces behind the passage of Victoria's notorious 2008 abortion laws, which not only decriminalised abortion, but legalised late-term abortions right through nine months of pregnancy.

What if a late term abortion threatens the life of the mother? Hop on your fire tender and zoom off to parliament and let them know you're against the loss of human life. Off you go.

With Barry in NSW and Newman in QLD you would think people would learn the lesson of what all Liberals are really like.

The Liberals Achilles heel unfortunately to give them power.

That is the claim for those who forget that NSW had surplus after surplus in the easier times and only went into deficite when the GFC hit as did all States.

If you are talking to me I probably paid more tax last financial year than you earned.

Then you probably should have spoken to me.

I managed to get myself into the bracket that qualifies for low income offset.

So did I.
It just so happened my share was a lot lower.

Bob Carr was in government for 10 years and produce 10 CONSECUTIVE SURPLUSES.
O'Farrell tried on the backhole crap but was told in no uncertain terms he was wrong.

Do you think to check before typing???

Quote:
In terms of economic management, the government led by Bob Carr from 1995 to 2005 alongside State Treasurers Michael Egan and Andrew Refshauge, delivered ten consecutive budget surpluses.

Oh and look who is reporting, not those lefty rags Swaggy but the ESTEEMED & TRUSTWORTHY Aus
Quote:
Barry O'Farrell trips and falls back into 'black hole'

NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell yesterday refused to apologise for misleading parliament when he made another botched attempt to suggest the previous Labor government had "cooked the books" and not revealed a supposed budgetary "black hole".

Same old same old in here.  No wonder most give this forum a miss

Began about reduction in fire services

Within one post, it had returned to the never-ending mantra of  ' My team vs your team' -- sports-politics as per usual

You think it is not relivant to point out the fact that there is no surprise when a new conservative government starts to cut services, they all do it.
