Submissions are now public, and can be viewed at....

http://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Committees/Senate_Committees?url=ee...

See if you can pick mine....?

I'll post it, if anyone's interested, but I doubt it, so haven't.

print it up kat I am sure its a ripper..lol..

what is this all about anyway??? dont tell me its our illustrious govt needing help on how to run govt????? ho hum.. who would have guessed..

how hard is it to look at what is dished out to one group of people and what is dished out to another??.

we find millions for overseas and for asylum seekers..yet when it comes to a living allowance..like the dole.. they have to have an enquiry..

and call for opinions.. wish I could be bothered reading them all..but whats the point anyway?

main thing i'd say about the dole is that the gap to the disability pension is very bad.

the unemployed are almost encouraged by this system to make themselves more disabled by drinking, drug taking, showing signs of aggression or domestic violence. all of the above, when added to an application for disability pension form, add to the chances of it being granted.

and disability pension has
a greater base rate by far
major major savings with 1/2 price rates, electricity discounts, travel discounts, much more access to public housing etc.

the number of people ive seen on the dole who have told me they have taken a few overdoses of relatively harmless sleeping tablets , had a few ambulance trips to casualty, got some evidence they are pyschiatric and THEN been granted the pension.

not their fault,
if you set up a system to reward dysfunctional behaviour, you will get dysfunctional behaviour.

someone wrote a pamphlett on how to get on the disability pension using such strategies.

geez theyre dumb , those pollies and bureaucrats  Wink Wink

Yours could be #9 Kat.

Mine was a copy of a letter that I regularly send to MP's outlining the need to raise the dole to a level that allows unemployed people to live with dignity. It is not listed, I wonder why? Shouldn't all submissions be listed?

In fact, I'm surprised there are so few submissions. Maybe they have a bundle of scrappy ones that they are not making public. The ones on the list are well constructed arguments for increasing the dole.

No, you were correct the first time, it's #24.

Surprisingly, I was favorably impressed with the Mission Australia submission...

I hadn't noticed that attachment on #9, but it's SO true.

I'm not sure when the committee's findings will be released, but it
will be sometime in the next couple of months, I believe.

so what the outcome , or are we still in the hands of brainless politicians and government beurocrats that wouldn't know anthing.

As I have said before I am being forced to go on a Disability pension, but theres just one problem , I am not Disabled. No work related back injury, all I have is high blood pressure and stress from the situation I am in.

I either work or I get to Retire. DSP is not retirement
