!!LOOKING YOUR CHILDREN IN THE EYE,

Climate Change deniers can't do it as they know there is a possibility that the problem is very real.

They don't understand economics purely from the fact that THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT ECONOMIES ARE MEANT TO BE ROBUST...

THIS CRUCIAL IDEA BEHIND ECONOMICS, IF NOT UNDERSTOOD, LEADS TO FEAR.

IN CONCLUSION--> CLIMATE CHANGE DENIERS ARE LIVING IN FEAR AND THEREFORE DESERVE A CERTAIN LEVEL OF COMPASSION!!

*Sure....they're anti competitive as any subsidised job is.  It wouldn't be there without the tax payer.  Very damned difficult for a brainwashed collectivist to understand that I know....  (swaggy) *

Assuming AGW is real and the consequences are severe, how will deniers be viewed in the future. The ones like Alan Jones, Delingpole, Lord Monkton and Martin Durkin who have consistently and deliberately misrepresented the truth are surely heading for some sort of infamy. What about the politicians like Abbott who have fed the public's doubt and undermined the possibility of a bipartisan approach. I guess the faceless ones who have signed the check books will escape public scorn.

i'm not a denier.

just fight the battles you can win and you cant win this one.
i can look my kids in the eye and say "kids, in life , use common sense,  not ideological non sense"

you cant and wont change human behaviour.
its not about inner city aussies installing low energy light bulbs.
the ENORMOUS number of poor aspirational people (billions of them) ,dont share your world view, theyve never even heard of it. they are going to get the cheapest power they can and exploit the planet as much as they can.  and you cant blame them.  climate change debate should be focusing on preparation for it when it happems

consequences coming horse rider.

but in the same way, banning say nuclear weapons in OZ would be a largely symbolic gesture.
so this is a largely symbolic gesture.

no evidence we ever will be a global species or at least act like one, though the UN may be capable of producing a pretty christmas card Wink Wink

I think I prefer the deniers.

It's far from too late to stop the worst consequences.

MOTR  , there is a certain ammount of carbon locked up in fossil fuels.  i see NO evidence that there is the will anywhere to stop mining this. in fact, quite the opposite.
enormous expansions in coal seam gas and coal.  the bigger mines in qld are now 8 X as productive as the bigger mines a decade ago. state governments love it.

and we are a rich country, do you really think the rest of south east asia are going to deny themselves economic growth.
short of a miracle new technology, it will ALL BE MINED.  thus the end point is the same. we may get there 2 hours later thanks to the carbon tax but get there we will.

and yes, according to what i have read, it is already too late.

youve lost me deathridesahorse.
can you clarify what you mean about regulated markets and population curves as it applies to my point (which is that we will continue to mine , and therefore produce carbon until it is all mined.  i see no evidence of a slowdown in the grab for fossil fuels,  check out the USA which is on the biggest fossil fuel mining binge of all time and is now nearly self sufficient in the stuff)
