Abbott and the conga line want people to die at sea that is why they refuse to back the government or the Greens policy. 100s if not thousands have now died because of Abbott and the conga line, I hope you are all happy with those people's deaths on your conscience , you are disgusting for encouraging these people's deaths.

So the wishes of the australian ppl are that we dont dont accept reffos? When was the referendum?

SOB

We accept refugees - tens of thousands of them. They come via legal channels.

We also accept asylum seekers that fly in

The significant difference being that they come with ID and therefore easy to assess as genuine refugees or not. So you have to ask why anyone with $10000 per head to spend on a leaky boat would choose that method over a safe clean plan flight in?

yep... ID.  Funny that.

dont bother bringing that up shane.. the left just cant see the difference..

they bring up those that fly in EVERY time..

maybe its time those that overstay are made aware that they prevent someone more worth of coming here.

Labors Malaysia solution is a sham trying to commit Australia to accepting a much larger intake of illegal immigration..,.the High Court struck it down as unconstitutional - every Australian citizen should sue the Lawless ideological Julia Gillard for persisting to subvert the constitution and defy the law... I for one cant see the difference apart from one lot coming by boat and others flying in.
Well..the truth is the only difference is the boat arrivals make excellent whipping boys for those with political aspirations.

if you really feel that it is about saving lives i would advocate this.

the $3 billion it is currently costing be used to carry out humanitarian aid in places like east timor (20 % childhood infection with filariasis)  a fatal disease in later life.

new guinea,  an immunization programme for hep b would cost 60 dollars a person and save slow fatal disease from liver failure in 40,000 a year.

malaria drugs for the solomon island.  childhood malaria kills over 1000 a year in the most horrific of circumstances.

these countries are all closely involved with australias history.

could probably have about $2.5 billion left over to split up amongst the displaced lawyers and others in the assylum seeker industry which has now developed,
or are the children of timor, new guinea and the solomons , not as deserving as those who have fled oppression with just the shirt on their back (oh and a convenient $10,000 they must have won on the pokies as they made their way to indonesia)

Because its China's job to take care of illegal immigration - they are the major economic power in the region with the economic capacity and resources to deal with the problem.  This problem conflicts with the Australian constitution - its not practical and wont work despite all your negativity... It wasnt uncontinsututional dimwit. It was illegal - meaning it was against the current legislation and all it needed was legislation to change that.  Not real bright, are you?

Easy way to sort the genuine refugees from the country shoppers - access Indonesian Customs to check for personal details of each boat person, since they throw their passports overboard. So take a picture of them as they disembark from the Navy vessel at Xmas Island and then cross-check that picture with Indonesian records to ascertain their true identity. Too many of these people are being given the benefit of the doubt due to it being virtually impossible to make a 100% positive ID check without a passport.

the truth of it, and something which escapes you, is that when they get sick of waiting, they can either get on a leaky boat, or pay for false passports and fly, which a lot of them do ... about 45% of those that fly in are found to not be genuine asylum seekers, and over 90% of those by boat are found to be genuine ...

It makes no difference if they have ID or not ,.... those without ID are held in detention until ID can be determined.

as for why they do it ... you'll have to ask them . I'm guessing there is no office in Indonesia where you can go and nominate if you'd like a boat or a passport ... perhaps its all that is on offer at the time .....

Of course it is in Gillard's interests to stop the boats. I think you are trying to make an entirely different point.
