What about the fact that Gillard's own appointed comittee approved of the Coalition's policy, and rejected her's?

they did no such thing . try reading the report before commenting

in effect, that is EXACTLY what they said. They came up with recomendations which is essentially rejecting the Malaysia solution and accepting Abbots policy which is effectively Howards Solution.

they did not, if you'd bothered to read beyond the headlines and read the report you would see that they found that the Malaysia solution is in fact a good idea ... it just needs a little tweaking ... and there was no mention of TPV's ....

Oh the semantics.

What they surely did say was that Rudd/Gillard/Greens/Ind got it wrong.

...also that aside from the destinations, there is VERY LITTLE which is similar between this and the Pacific Solution and is, in any case, recommended only as a TEMPORARY measure while regional centres are worked out.

Actually they said it wasnt good enough - which is what everyone has been saying. And there is currently no plan to use Malaysia for just that reason. Get over it. You and Gillard are the only ones thinking Malyasia was a good idea. It was just another amteur labor policy, doomed to failure and self-implosion on a spectacular level.

The Panel recommends that Australia continue to develop its vitally important cooperation with Malaysia on asylum issues, including the management of a substantial number of refugees to be taken annually from Malaysia
