Referendum on boat people arrivals
Aug 15th, 2012 at 11:48am

There needs to be an immediate referendum on whether the Australian people want this burgeoning problem of 'boat people' arriving to this Country.

This issue which is reachng alarming proportions with an armada of vessels headed this way without end.

The people of the Nation have a right to decide whether we will turn this Country over to an army of uninvited people.

It is the inalienable right of the Nation's people to decide and NOT a few Politicians who have no clue

Why let the people decide on whether to let 20,000 or so be let in, yet ignore the bigger issue of the 200,000 coming every year with the blessing of our governemnt?  Immigration should be dealt with wholistically.  Boat people are just a diversion - an approved outlet for concern over immigration, that has little to no relevance on the big picture.

Exaggerate much?!?!

In the global context, Australia remains a minor destination country for irregular migrants and asylum seekers. It received 2.5 per cent of global asylum claims in 2011 (including air and maritime arrivals).

ahhh 2.5%.  That's a small number, nothing to worry about.

Oh.

hang on.

It might pay to put that in contetx with the level of poopulation we have.

about 0.3% of the worlds population.  So we're taking about 8x our share.  Not so insignificant when you think about it for even a few seconds is it?

And while we're at it we might advise those who fled alleged oppression/persecution that it might be safe to return to their motherland. It is now safe for all Iraqis to return to their ME sand castle and hostilities have ceased in Sri Lanka so it is safe for Sri Lankans Tamils, oh sh!t, whatever they are to return home.

The ALP, the progressive party, the party of ideas, the workers' friend, is the only Australian political party to roast four young Australians in roof cavities. SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!
