If you accept evolution then you also accept that your mind and all its contents are also the products of evolution. After all, for an evolutionists, the human mind itself is the product of evolution and nothing else as it is regarded as a brain function, nothing more.
You cannot then say that morality and altruism or anything else you can conceive of in your mind is 'entirely separate from the evolutionary process' as nothing in the mind is separate from the brain and the body for an evolutionist - and the body and the brain are the way they are due to evolution.
Evolution is a scientific fact, the theory explains how it happens
What is an evolutionist is that a new word religious people use?
Try google for "church apology to Darwin" and see what you get.
A survey of National academy of Science members in 1998 found 93% of these scientists did not believe in god.
When it comes to scientists that survey showed less than 1 in 10 scientists believe in god.
http://www.stephenjaygould.org/ctrl/news/file002.htmlReligious people are hypocrites when it comes to morality, christian morality did include whacking heretics.
That is true.
And i am ashamed of some of the things that have been done in the name of my faith.
But mostly, such 'whacking' was done by people [kings, priests, Popes] who used the authority of 'religion' to kill people they wished to be rid of, to
corruptly further their own political/power agendas.
So they were almost always
corrupting the authority of religion [i.e. Christianity], for personal political gain.
No ?
