It's no coincidence that major religions share many common tenets.  It's because they're based around our universal human nature.

If you accept evolution then you also accept that your mind and all its contents are also the products of evolution. After all, for an evolutionists, the human mind itself is the product of evolution and nothing else as it is regarded as a brain function, nothing more.

You cannot then say that morality and altruism or anything else you can conceive of in your mind is 'entirely separate from the evolutionary process' as nothing in the mind is separate from the brain and the body for an evolutionist - and the body and the brain are the way they are due to evolution.

Evolution is a scientific fact, the theory explains how it  happens

What is an evolutionist is that a new word religious people use?
Try google for "church apology to Darwin" and see what you get.

A survey of National academy of Science members in 1998 found 93% of these scientists did not believe in god.

When it comes to scientists that survey showed less than 1 in 10 scientists believe in god.

Religious people are hypocrites when it comes to morality, christian morality did include whacking heretics.

Leftists and the Ayatollahs have a lot in common when it comes to criticism of Islam, they don't tolerate it.

Science is observation based. It does not assume a random world because do not observe things randomly happening (for the most part, anyway).

Science is a method for examining the world, making observations and from them, predictions. Science has has the capability to alter conclusions given new evidence.

Religion does not generally do this.

Religion is also based on 'well formulated' hypotheses, observations within the parameters of the hypothesis and predictions that reinforce the hypothesis. In this sense it is based on experience as science.
It doesn't have experiments, though, and falsifiability. But nor do other belief system, political or moral.

Well usually it is based on ancient texts, but I wouldn't say you can use religion to predict anything useful like you can with science.

Religion does not self correct when it is obviously incorrect (statements in said ancient texts that are factually wrong, for example).

I can't see how religion can be used to make any useful predictions about the universe, it's predictions are pre-formulated according to books written ages in the past, knowledge has changed considerably since.

The lives and prejudices of nomadic bronze age tribesmen who suffered  chronic halitosis, who had not yet developed soap, toothpaste or antiperspirants, who would make modern day vagrants look sophisticated, and who lived to the ripe old age of 40-45 - not that I have anything against them.

But despite all that, the Romans and Greeks were relatively advanced for their era compared to their contemporaries. At least they didn't sacrifice children, unlike some Middle Eastern peoples.

"primitive" in technological terms they may have been, but stupid they were not.  With every generation, knowledge is gained but wisdom is lost.

I think we have our fair share of wisdom in this day and age, but there were fewer distractions back then. We can catch glimpses of it in pristine natural settings such as on a quiet island on the Great Barrier Reef.

No it doesn't.

Dictionary;
credible = = able to be believed; convincing.

Q.
What gives credibility to a claim or a belief ?

A.
Is it a belief that something is more likely to be based in truth, than falsehood ?

Q.
How do we test for truth ?

A.
Through rigorous scrutiny and examination, of the presented hypothesis ?

That is true.

And i am ashamed of some of the things that have been done in the name of my faith.

But mostly, such 'whacking' was done by people [kings, priests, Popes] who used the authority of 'religion' to kill people they wished to be rid of, to corruptly further their own political/power agendas.

So they were almost always corrupting the authority of religion [i.e. Christianity], for personal political gain.

No ?

Well, if human nature has no credibility with you, what does? After all, you are human, I presume (not sure though).
