In the world of agnosticism, we are too small to be able to paint a pic of either going forwards or backwards.
Our human reality is to move forever forwards, in our own minds only.
Whether or not that is actually a widespread happening for humankind is too hard to tell within our (relatively) infinitely small pieces of aquired knowledge.
Being for, against, or apathetic to religions won't change our paths in the slightest in the long term IMO.
We can only go forward by quitting the bickering and looking towards a long term (humanity-wise) future which may help avert a few disasters, but we will still be at the beck and call of whatever may happen.
Nomatter how religious one is, there is no controlling the universe, or even the insignificance of human nature for that matter.
What tames us (our nature) is better stuff. The non-need to fight is what satisfies humans on the whole...just like any other animal.
If an asteroid were hurtling towards our earth, I'd be surprised if every religion, scientist, and whoever else would not pull together to try to avert the disaster.
Until that scenario presents itself, and in the meantime, we try to
create disaster for each other in the name of short term pleasure.
Amadd,
That is what you believe.
That is what perhaps 99% of the people on the planet may believe.
That may be our perception of reality.
But, if what you said is true, i still want to know what the nature of the universe is [i.e. the universe which we perceive, the universe which we are aware of].
And as human beings, we are still grasping [at straws] to try to understand these things. We
DO NOT know.
And, imo, to say something like;
"No matter how religious one is, there is no controlling the universe,..."
,
is just a little presumptuous.
And yes, maybe people like myself [people of faith], are being presumptuous too.
Amadd,
#1....
The fact is, that i am happy for you [and for people like you] to believe
whatever you want to believe.
I believe something different, from most people.
My experience is that.....What i believe, doesn't have very much value [to others], and trying to explain why i 'believe' [in a reality that differs from what most of us see] is futile,
.....so i am happy to revert to #1.i
"The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God."
